Hi all
forgive me if this a stupid question but would a odyssey gyro 2 fit on a 87 master on the catalogue specs it says odyssey gyro was wondering if the 2 is different
-
I think the gyro 2 was the one with oversize barrel adjusters, so the upper & lower plates are different. The gyro unit itself was the same as far as I know.
Edit, forgot to add a 1" gyro 2 would fit but is the wrong era, I think the 2's would be more mid school.

cheers pal
I thought the 2 was a lot newer seen it advertised as mid school but as long as it if fits that will do me

Gyro 2 came about '92/ '93. Like fugazi said: Gyro2's have bigger barrel adjusters but thicker cables as well! Meaning, if you use something like a DC880 or some caliper of that era (about '87) you will run into troubles making the Gyro-cable fit into the barrel adjuster of the caliper. You would need to run your cable without the endcabs on, to make it fit.
Therefore you should go for a Generation-1 Gyro maybe. The difference is easy to spot: The Gen.1 cup has slots at either sides to make the brake-cables go in.
Gyro2's or later ORYG's ('96+) don't have these slots. I just want to bring this to your attention mate, because many Gen.1-Gyro's get mixed with Gyro2 or Oryg parts to make it looking as a complete. So, you might pay attention to that! :daumenhoch:
