Title: Selle Italia Turbo
Post by: deeman on February 14, 2017, 06:01 PM: I have seen a lot if these seats on mid school bikes....is that because people used them in the 90's? or is it because they are a comfortable alternative to a bmx seat?

I would use one now though, they are wonderfully made and look quite comfy and light. During the mid school I used a small seat to make bar spins easier. These days people just level the seat lol.

Post by: nosepickben on February 14, 2017, 10:14 PM: They, and other decent quality road bike saddles were popular from the late 80's onwards, particularly with racers, as they were a more comfortable and more stylish choice than the box saddles of the time. I think it started because some older racers were dabbling with mtb' sand road bikes around that time.

My SE seat I just bought is pretty much the same format too.

But yeah, use whatever seat you want tbh.
