Sunday saw me visit to the old school mecca that is the Happy Bike Meeting, an annual event organized by Inoue-san, the owner of Screamin' Wheels BMX shop, also in Tokyo. I think this is the 7th one of been to and it's definitely the old school event of the year, at least this side of MK! :daumenhoch:

This year I could only spend an hour or so there, but that didn't stop me from taking well over a hundred photos! I'm therefore splitting the best of them into 2 albums. Here's the first part, comprising a selection of old school BMX, some of which I've seen before, others for the first time:-

Great selection of bikes there, they seem to be into vintage stuff in a big way in Japan, some cool 70's machines. 8)

Glad you like the bikes gentlemen! If you ever get the chance, it's definitely well worth a visit. Failing that, you can continue to enjoy my annual photo-fest from the comfort of your homes! :D

Is there any riding involved, or is it just a static meeting?
I've only ever seen photos of bikes on those steps but wondered if everyone goes off for a ride somewhere?

Nah griff, it's all show, no go, or at least for the BMXers, as the riders of the street cruisers and frankenbikes usually arrive together, stay a while then ride off into the distance. Actually, it may have been you or someone else who mentioned this last year, and I was going to suggest a ride to Inoue-san but completely forgot!! ::)
It would be great to have a ride-out, though this being Japan, I imagine there would be a ton of red-tape to negotiate if it was going to done officially. Two brakes would be required for a start, since that's a legal requirement! :police: An unofficial ride around the park could be a runner though - I'll mention it to Inoue-san when I need see him! :daumenhoch:
