Hi,
Just spotted this today, it's probably been seen by everyone already.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Old-School-Challenger-Racing-20-inch-BMX-1985-/253118057294?hash=item3aef030b4e:g:uncAAOSwYZ9Zor5g
They seem very rare.
Some good info on The USA Museum.
http://bmxmuseum.com/bikes/challenger_racing/
How did it end up over here? Does anyone know the bike?
I would be bidding, but the wife would go mental, I've got a kitchen to fit, plus it's miles away!
-
don't know anything about these, but I do like it
-
I like that :daumenhoch:
-
Absolutely, twin top tube race frames are very cool, like Torker.
It'll be interesting to see what it goes for!
-
Very smart, and some lovely components to boot. If I did not have three projects on the go then I would be a rat up a proverbial. The lack of 'big name' kudos is the only thing that will hold this back.

You think the end price might be reasonable then? mmm... Are you anywhere near Leicester?
-
Like nobody's seen the triton pedals. 🙄
Near me too 😜
-
I can collect from Leicester for ya :daumenhoch:
-
It says it's in Hampshire... what's Leicester gotta do with it. ???

isn't that a Tina Turner song?
-
it's 5 miles down the road from me if anyone seriously wanted me to pick it up for them, if only I had the cash at the mo :(
We could arrange courier etc from my place if that would help, And all it will cost you is the pedals :2funny: Sorry, couldn't resist the last statement ::)
-
This could be interesting!

I'll be having a punt  ;)

Spitting distance from me!
But there goes any hope of getting it I suppose.
Wish these links would go up AFTER the auction end !

Sorry, the location said petersfield and when I looked on google maps it came up with a place just south of Leicester? I've just looked again and it's now in Hampshire? weird? I did hit my head at the weekend!
-
Went for £720 .. Wasn't me .. £600 was my max
-
Interesting wonder if it was a radster? ???

Same bidder kept going for it .. Made me wonder
A: He really wanted it.
B: His mate now owns it . :LolLolLolLol:

I like the twin down tube, looks really cool. I think it went quite cheap really , considering the pedals it has on it .

I'd go for option B and expect it back on ebay in the near future
-
I watched it to the death, had the BID button ready but then went out of my short arms/deep pocket range. Shame really would have liked those pedals "wantit"
MrD

Bargain at the £720 price tag. I am sure it will get flipped minus the bars, stem and pedals :)
-
Seems a lot of money at first glance but considering its rarity and the quality of the parts, it wasn't too bad a price. Will be interesting to see if, where and in what state it resurfaces! :daumenhoch:

Well an update for you!
Wont bore you too much with how i got it , but i messaged the seller after the auction to say let me know if you get let down on eBay etc. & to cut a long story short I collected it yesterday afternoon and for a much more reasonable price
He gave me some nice history on the bike about how he got it and how it won many uk and Europe races.
He also had a rickman prototype Freestyler! but he was emigrating to Germany and could only take one bike with him, so chose to sell this.
Some pics-

It needs a little work ,seat post is junk , the saddle has a few splits on the top & the front hub axle is thread bound.
So it will need a few other rider survivor parts.
But theres no other nastys to report.

Nice to see it's ended up in the hands of a Radster. :slayer:

Nice one Matt!! So was it a case of buyer's remorse or shill bidding? In any case, am also glad it ended up in the right hands! Look forward to seeing it up and running again. :daumenhoch:

Yeah full strip down clean up & rebuild ,no more then that. Will need new seat ,post ,grips etc . The wheels will also need a rebuild as the spokes are too far gone. But yes all survivor parts for sure. :)

Nice snag Matt :daumenhoch:

It was in the garage right at the back , with about 5 other bikes in front of it . But basically no standers on the frame or forks from what I could see.?
Couldn't really see it properly. Sorry mate.
-
agree it's great that it ended up with a forum member - look forward to seeing how it turns out :daumenhoch:
very posh pedals to go on a OPC, can't be many of those about with 1/2" axles?

For sure started looking last night and all I can find is 9/16 ones , & there's not a lot of INFO on the net about them either. There seems to be a few generations of them & I think these are 1st gen.
-
Nice one Matt. fistblump
That's really cool .. 8) Jammy bugger :D
-
Been cleaning up the pedals , luckily no cracks or damage to them, one cage is a bit off round , and a spindle has lost its chrome?
