Title: Can you Fix a Stem shaft turning in the stem?
Post by: Taipan on March 15, 2018, 10:37 PM
I have a stem which I stripped and cleaned, the shaft of the stem was turning in the stem head after it was all cleaned up and after a citric bath,it was so loose I just pulled it out? How can I fix it back into the stem head so that I'm able to use it?

ps..it fits back in easily enough but it just spins around turned by hand?

I had a similar problem with a tuff neck stem after having it polished I used a metal bonding solution which done the trick 👍

Sorry Pal
Can’t remember which one I used  it was a while ago  but there seems to be loads on market think most car part stores have it as well as screwfix or b&q 👍

Something along the lines of jb weld would do it. In an ideal world the knurling on the top of the post would be improved to create an interference fit
