Title: DX on a budget.
Post by: chrisv39 on May 25, 2018, 07:11 PM
Not a full resto thread but I’ve been on the lookout for some 9/16 Shimano DX for the goose build and came across these on eBay in a very sorry state so took a chance and had a bid on them and got them for £35.

The centres had been drilled for pins which a few on each pedal were missing and the spindles were very loose with the ball bearings badly corroded.
I gave them a full strip down and a thorough clean up, filed the ends, and made some new pins out of coat hanger wire. A few coats of etch primer then a few heavy coats of tough black then clear lacquer. A set of repop end caps and new bearings and here’s the result.

They’re by no means mint but now nice tidy set of DX for under £60
and should look great once they’re connected to these.
