now who's gonna be the first to buy & race one ???
-
old school or no old school, that stem blows
the rest of it is dope on a rope though. i'd have one!
-
nice but it really does need motomags
-
FLAWLESS!!! AWESOME!!!
-
the year when the bike had step down dropouts, weren't the stickers on the downtube?
i am being too picky?
-
what a shame they didn't make it with new skool geometry
-
ah heck i can hear the money trying to escape from my wallet
and get to Alans ......
that looks a lot better than the early pics
but as said before mk1 rear drops, motomags and full on decals would have been that extra bit special
still wouldn't kick out of your garage though, would ya ?
-
I'm gonna have me one of them.....the only thing I don't like is the rear dropouts look a little odd....don't like the step down ones much anyway but they don't look like the proper step down ones either.
-
Si,
Is this the reason for selling your second Aero Pro..... ;D ;D ;D
Rich...
-
Sweeeet!!!
I could really take that home to meet the family! 8)
-
Nope,
not feeling it.
You can build a real one for that money.
-
That's a picture of one of the first show bikes, the gussets are on the wrong sides, so the hole goes in over and not out. Think they made 2 like that...
-
they are cheap at only £250, you cant even buy a nu skool frame for that!
i suppose those they are cheap to make, all that steel! ;D
cant get my head round this one, they'll just be kept in boxes in the loft!
-
I know that you mean about the rear dropouts, Si.
-
can't see what all the fuss is about and to top it all its a shite repro... >:(
-
the dropouts look a fair bit thicker than the original though
-
I know a guy in the bike trade who has seen one of these in the metal and he said that other than the black wheels and rear dropouts, this repro is spot on.
He also said that they are very limited in numbers....I'm gonna get one, it seems pretty good value to me when you consider that a good chrome job can cost £150 easily.
-
old school or no old school, that stem blows
i've still got a hole in my right knee from the original version of one of those hideous stems >:(
-
Fook me, what do you want for £250. If it's built as well as the goose from 70s it's well up for a good thrashing.
It's also good to see the company that owns the Mongoose name tipping it's hat in our direction and looking back into its history, thanks for taking the time out to make this Ltd Ed, it's a nice touch and I like it.
Bren ;)
-
Can't say fairer than that matey ;)
-
oh yeh....it's cost them more than they will sell em' for to produce in this limited number.....lots of work has gone into getting those parts re-manufactured.
-
Also the decals don't look right - they're not prismatic.
:-\
-
a big company selling it for a loss ! dont kid yourself.there's plenty of margin in that piece of shite thanks to our friends in china ;)
-
they'd make money if it was a regular production bike that they were making thousands of....this bike has had to have lots of tooling made specifically for this bike and they are only making 500.
A run of the mill POS bike costs £150 using parts that are made for millions of bikes!
Retail price of £250, trade price of what? £150-£170?
minus shipping costs?
Can't see there would be any profit in it at all myself....nice of them to do it it you ask me.
Just carry on slagging them off if you like...then you can kiss goodbye to anyone making repro pads, stickers, other bikes etc...
Stuff can be made dirt cheap in China...doesn't stop people paying £150 plus for profile cranks and £250 plus for frames that all come from the same factory as the cranks you can buy for £50 and the complete bikes that cost £200.... whats in a name eh!
-
net buying price would be circa -50% and its still shite ;D
-
:P
-
and even more net discount for retailers on end of year rebates ;) and the bike.circa less than £50 to produce.great the chinese.i deal with them everyday ;) :P
-
Your right it aint perfect (motomags would finish it off) but mines going in the loft, and when i snuff it maybe my son can get it out and have a good laugh at what his old dad used to spend many happy hours riding around on in the early 1980s.
