After fannying around putting a brake on my Hoffman I've found that it barley slows the thing down..
So, what are the grippiest/ best pads for painted rims?
-
Depends, do you want to eventually wear the colour away on the side of the rim or not?
The race bike has whatever came with the Shimano DXR brakes and then just another pad insert when they wore down a lot.
stops well, but the rear rim now has a nice silvery surface on the braking surface.
The Cyclecraft due to the rims and not wanting to damage them has some Clear Koolstop i believe. Awesome in terms of not damaging them, but squeal like a banshee.

I’ve got a feeling ive got some clear pads somewhere in the garage. I must check.
