Hello,
There is a yellow Californian on Ebay. He has a frame number which looks legit, not sure about the rest, but what I wanted to know is, was there a yellow one? I just don't remember it. I can only think of black red and blue but then I'm getting old!!!
Cheers

Looks a very nice bike for your lad to ride. 8)
I would guess looking at the parts most are reproduction. :daumenhoch:

Lots of reissue bits , basically everything, cheap win bars , the only thing original is the stem.
Probably £150 all in for the reissue bits to buy new, try to sell them on you get next to nothing personally.
The frame damage is big put off .
You be better getting a frame and forks and building one yourself.
There are plenty from the USA even taking into account the dreaded fees.
Look for one with the correct mongoose CW looking bars with the wheels (not steel) seat and stem, and correct cranks.
Just had a look at the bidding looks a bit shilling going on too.
Myself bought two from USA with 80% bits inc around £300 without wheels.
The other With correct era wheels was around £350 inc post and duties.
Both needed work just a citric acid bath both came up good as new .
Have a look on the bmx museum or wanted on here .
That damage is pretty bad mate.. fistblump

Nice one both of you, thank, I will give it a wide berth. Bidding has gone up a lot too since I looked at it. I'll go through BMX Museum. I should probably buy him something modern and light anyway
