Hi all
I've been busy on a few bikes but this one has me stumped a bit. It has an integrated Seat Clamp, but I hate it and want to get it removed. Was these welded in like this? I notice on the side a DOT, which looks like a spot weld. Any ideas how to remove it? I realise that it won't be painted underneath but I intend to get the frame painted anyway. I don't want to to f**k it up or damage the frame but I just would like to get rid of this clamp. Let me know...

I've done a few of these but all I can say is some came off easy and some wont budge for example the ones that worked I was able to Dremel off the spot welds on the back of the clap where the bolt sits and with a bit of force with a screw driver of similar it popped off :daumenhoch: but a couple of others even after removing the little spot welds they would not budge? :( so Its a case of try it tentively? ??? just my experience fella someone may know different?

:) I`ve removed a few similar clamps-not with any finesse (I used a chisel on the spot welds) and just peeled them off.Did no damage other than what wa sleft of the weld had tro be filed/sanded down & then used a regular clamp.A Dremel should do a much tidier job .

Have you tried twatting it with a hammer?

I'm gonna try with a screwdriver first, also a dremel. Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a go this evening :daumenhoch:

Ok i've done it. But looks like my seat clamp, the vintage one I have just won't fit it.
Bugger... so after a plain vintage style clamp now to fit the size.
The width is: 28mm.
This style...

So looks like I need a 31.8mm sized clamp from looking online... that's a big bugger!

Is that in MK1 B*rner territory?
-
I haven't a clue but try looking at vintage road bikes etc also

31.8mm is the most common modern BMX racebike size so sure you`ll find something .A few on th bay for about ?6 apiece:)

Yeah, the width of the tube is 28mm or just over, so either 28.6 or 31.8 would be suitable, but finding a battered old clamp like that is difficult, just not been able to find anything yet....
Just not sure if i'm doing the right searches in Ebay?

does it have to be the Berratta style clamp you pictured or can you use a tuff neck style one?

Hi mate, as this is a toy shop bike, ideally a vintage looking clamp and not a tuff neck style. :daumenhoch:
