Did any of you guys change your gearing depending on the tracks you raced on,this was my preffered gearing what about you guys,Oh and 175mm crank because i`m a bit taller than Spen ;D
-
I'm running exactly the same on my free agent i use for OS meets
43 : 16 with 175 cranks
felt a lot smoother than 44 : 16so stuck with it
-
i would change mine many times.short straights ,then for long wouldnt always work out but sometimes.i ran large gear for practice and general riding to build up legs then could push it harder on track, could also make you out pedal the bike which wasnt good.
-
either 44-16 or 43-16 depending on the track. 43 nice and quick but a little to spinny for the long staight's :daumenhoch:
-
I used to prefer 44/17 or 43/17 but then again I loved to spin.
-
bitd i always run 44/45 -18 with 180,s
and i still run it now :coolsmiley:
-
I rode 43-16, wiv 180mm cranks. Probably should have stuck to 175mm back then. Did run 42-16 at some tracks, like Folkestone.
-
Did 42-16 at Cockmoor once. Legs nearly fell off. Tracks like that were difficult to gear - all downhill for first half, then flat for the last half.
-
Hey SE(legs nearly fell off) your a mentalist :daumenhoch:
-
i used to run 44/45 16 with 185s bitd, now tend to run 43 16 180s.
gonna try some of that new school gearing with the little cogs on my new build.
-
i used to run from 41-43, mainly 42, i was small but had fast spinning legs :D
-
I never change my gearing, nowadays you spend more time jumping and manualing then you do spinning. Its all about the snap out of the gate and thats more down to technique than going up or down one cog here or there. 33/12 all the way, the same as 44/16 but with trendy little ti cogs. I've just gone down 2mm to 177's from 180's, doubt I'll even notice though :coolsmiley:
I rode 43/16 til I was about 14 then it was far too spinny after that.
-
43/16 for me 44 is too much effort back up the hill :buck2:
