Wasn't directly aimed at you (the advertising bit anyway) but there are some on here that use them in such a way. I just don't see the point, it's clutter and makes the page load slower for those who are not on broadband.

Here's a test for you, see how popular your sig picture is. Remove it from your profile and start a thread displaying your sig picture. I'm guessing it'll disappear off the first page real quick.
