Title: Skyway Tuff II Metal Hub Question
Post by: dtrc1969 on September 17, 2005, 06:36 PM: I have been offered a pair of pink rear Tuff IIs with metal hubs by a seller in the US. One is coaster one is freewheel but with no axle. They are not cheap (will work out about the same cost as shipping one of Rad Racing BMX's Ltd Ed 2005 Tuff II pairs - have just bought the red set so I know).

I am not technical - so forgive me if this is a dumb question. :-[

Can I buy new / NOS metal hubs to turn these pink wheels into a front and a freewheel rear? If yes, then where do I get the replacement hubs (or are they as rare as rocking horse sh:t)?

I wouldn't be bothering but I really need these pink wheels for a Tange "love heart" frame and TX1200s that I am building up for my daughter.

I have checked with Ed at RadRacing BMX whether he has any 2005 Ltd Ed pink Tuff IIs so if he can help then clearly this becomes a non-issue. (I know he has done red, blue, light blue and green this year)...

So the coaster hub is modified using the converter from Alans leaving me with a rear wheel with hub but no axle. Can that hub kit from the US eBayer be used to create a front wheel???

Yep! I kind of figured that deal had already gone through which is why I didn't go steaming in. If anyone else has a pair for sale (or can help with the replacement hub thing)...

I spoke to Ed at RadRacing and they haven't done a Ltd Ed run of pink Tuff IIs yet but as soon as they do he is going to drop me a line (but that might not be for 12 months)... :(

I'm just waiting for him to do some new Tuff II wheel relectors too. Actually, while I'm fishing for hen's teeth and pink Tuff IIs...
If anyone can help with Skyway wheel reflectors then please let me know (and rear round reflectors for Mk I Raleigh Burners)...
