heres the 3 rules about bike club

1.tell everyone about bike club

2.build it how the hell you want...its your bike....there are no rules

3.tell eveyone about bike club

lets face it this here hobby we are into is about recreating childhood memories...these memories are yours and yours alone, dont build somthing cos someone says this bit goes here or this bit is era correct, build it for you, how you want it, how you remember things.

there you go....now go build a bike....

Don't be too anal about being year specific with your parts, most of us bitd carried over parts from previous bikes, build with the parts you want, in the colours you like.  Remember, it's a bike at the end of the day and it will expect you to ride it at some point  :daumenhoch:

Dave, not liking that Haro at all, let me have it and I'll sort it out good and proper  :LolLolLolLol:

ive kinda mellowed, toward the more anal builds as the years are movin on, but personally i build my bikes with the bits I like, and becuase my bikes are all built to ride they have to have parts on them that are up to the job. mix n match n keep it real, proper oldschool styley.

1. If you are gonna paint a bike frame in the bath, dont try and kid your missus that the shower curtain will stop any overspray getting on the rest of the bathroom.

2. offering to lend your autosol to your woman to clean the rust marks you have put in the kitchen sink after you clean parts is not a good idea, clean them yourself before she sees them.

3. It may have looked like a polishing rag but check it aint something she still wears before you get T-Cut all over it.

These are the 3 main rules i try and follow now :daumenhoch:

 :LolLolLolLol:

2 & 3 I can really relate to. Haven't tried 1. yet.

Rules... there are no rules, build what you like and get out there and ride em.

I would say that its best to stick to a build , dont just randomly buy parts , have a plan , know what you want and wait for it to turn up, it will eventually.

Dont rush in to the first availiable frame set , wait for what you really want. It will ensure that you dont get sick of the first few you buy and end up selling them soon after.

Dont buy something you are not going to need , unless you can afford or want a stock of parts that just sit there, it is more cost effective to just buy what you really want.

And as others have said , do what cha like, its all good

DO, use decent parts, not all need be expensive to get a good look and ride
DO, think about what you want to achieve, colour scheme, overall look etc
DO, go with your heart and not what you think others will exept (best builds achieved this way)
DO, match seat n grips

DONT, use those fookin horrible braced laybacks
DONT, buy things coz theyre there, take your time and get what you want
DONT, feel pressured to buy era correct bits

DO, enjoy

and as above

DONT PISS THE MISSUS OFF

My golden rule is: ask your boss to use the stock room for storing all the bikes and parts your wife doesn't know you've bought and built up behind her back. The only problem comes when you say you're going to a show n shine and she mentions she wants to come....doh!

This imo is the correct list of rules, especially about the colour scheme.  I wonder sometimes if people are colour blind when they build a bike.  I take ages thinking about the aesthetics of a colour scheme.
