I am pretty sure they came out in late 1981 and were only available in Chrome finishes. Down my way they were pretty common I remember at least 5 people who had them. Around about the £90-£110 for a complete bike I think?
Personally I like them. That is a nice find ;)
-
Ok this is what i have from memory and more recent joggers. 4 variant: original painted version, i'm guessing early 81 was replaced later by chrome without prism decals which was replaced by the one with prism decals by mid 82. These three all came with shimano brakes (890's with pre-bents), rat-traps, copy kashi aero's, SR stem, copy oakley 2's and annodised steel wheels.
the painted version i only saw in blue frame with gold parts and yellow pads but the chrome came with red or blue parts. These were replaced in very early 83 by the same but with copy brakes, copy kkt's and sponge grips.
Then it was replaced by the viper but you'd need the DB boys to tell you when :)
-
well unknown how much is original as has gold dia compes , tuff neck chainring ,sr pedals and araya 7x in gold . guy yep if find some stickers i let you know and same if you do .

I had a candy red Pro Star back in 1981, they came in Red, Blue or Chrome finish. Mine was Red, Gold 'Arayas', gold bars, brakeset, yellow tyres and seat.
I think it got skipped or something, I have some pics at my mum's somewhere, I will try to dig these out and post them. Looking back it was a really nice frameset, I wish i'd kept it :(
-
OK I stand corrected I assumed they only came in Chrome :-[ Would be nice to see a coloured framed one.
Where did they all go ???
From bodamus ;)

Does it have the baseball on the serial number?
If it does and you agree that the baseball symbol is Koizumi's logo, then it's made by Koizumi.
-
The baseball symbol is a quality mark common in Japan its like a circle with zig zag in the middle , I thought it was a Tange mark , but reserched it and it is a quality symbol as a bike made by Tange had the baseball symbol as well?
but as I dont read japanese i found it hard to ever really find out more

Are you sure you're not thinking of this mark which is the Japanese quality mark, we were arguing about the baseball symbol for a while over on the Burner forum.

You can see that logo on lots of reflectors and on the back of Dia Compe brakes.
Have a look at this sticker, this suggests to me that the logo is Koizumi's:

Find the thread on the burner forum if you want to know more, don't want to argue any more about it because had enough of that over there :LolLolLolLol: We never came to a final conclusion though.

so..................anyone got a Pro Star to sell to me then ?? ::) ;)

-
No Paul.
