Title: IPSWICH BMX RACE 1985 (ish) OLD SCHOOL PIX!

My dad took me to see this race on a cold Sunday, in I believe Jan 85, have some more somewhere, will post when I can find them!

...and there i was standing on the sidelines wishing I was one of you guys!!!! How did you get to enter those races? Did you have to be sponsored? I didnt have the contacts to enter at the time, we mostly thrashed around our village imagining we were in BMX Beat! I know ive got a few more pix in the loft somewhere, one of a pile up, which was always entertaining to watch! Will scan that first one in bigger too.  :daumenhoch:

...Oh, and does anyone remember racing against a guy called Piers Simpson? He used to ride for GT I beleive, and went to my school.

it was my local track and raced there twice a week for 3 years and broke lots of bones doing it.

i rode for scorpion but you could just bookin on some meetings or you had to be a member of the track.

That was the the Scorpion anglo American race I think they ran them from 82,83 and 84.

I raced the 85 one and it finished about 8.00 o'clock under flood lights - If I remember correctly Tony Holland was flying and won his age group.

Great that the photos have bought back so many memories! I do remember standing there at the end of the day freezing cold and in the dark, and seeing a Team Mongoose van. Here is a bigger image of the start, sorry for the cr4p quality
