Hi Dan
I'd go with some fine metal gauze (stainless) for a ridder (so it gets some grip), or normal foil for a cheap option if it will not be ridden.
You could also just buy a cheap seive out of a food store and cut the guts out with some snips, then trim to size.
I've had to pack out many items in my time on cars, boats, m/c's and bikes etc , something like this should do -
http://www.bwire.com/
http://www.mcnichols.com/products/wiremesh/'source=adwords
http://www.kompass.co.uk/directory/products/item/0/uk/Wire_gauze_and_cloth,_stainless/3554002.htm
Maybe email a few, or phone asking for some samples ;)

:daumenhoch: as im selling it i will try something or fit a new stem,or bars .as aq\ show bike it wont matter
to much but if someone wants to ride it hard then it needs sorting.
