old school bmx collectors are stupid
its all about the wallet size now
-
No not stupid , just that all of us have seen the early days of this hobby and cant quite get our heads round the recent prices and the big money being spent.
to be fair I still think it has a bit to go yet , I can only judge on what people who know nothing of prices would pay for stuff and the percived worth of the old stuff
To give you an Idea , I was speking to a guy who owns some trendy clothes shops, where old levis can sell for 4-5 hundred quid
he saw my TA and thought it would cost at least 2K to buy it , which to be fair is not that far off the money anyway if you wanted to repalce it
look at action man , and other hard to find established collectors items , and collate that to the value of old BMX.
You will see this kind of prices more and more as the good stuff becomes impossible to find.
I have been prattling this argument for a good few years and to be fair have been proved right as prices are steadily rising year in and year out.
I remember when 40 quid was an outrage for black MX1000s , now look
hutch beartraps have jumped again , and other rarer parts are doing the same thing, I reckon the 3K for a bike is about the limit , but we aint there yet, and its the new blood who are paying it , they havent seen the old pr
ices and are still buying at the new higher price.
