Billy - That is HUGE - there was a big bowl in Putney called Wheelies (I think) that looked just like this bowl except this bowl has a scenic backdrop, Putney had the High Street in the background.

i remember as a kid going to a place over camden way that had a big bowl like that . we had to leave after 10 mins as loads of dodge folks came over trying to tax our bikes

It`s got to be 20 foot from top to bottom, perhaps it`s not in this country :(

that's kettering (wicksteed park) skatepark, chilly (david childs / rampchilds ramp builder) was a local. the guy who did the 2 fakie backflips 2 weeks after hoffman did them at mansfield was from there as well. he then did a wallride in a tutu at the alfreton 1990 christmas bfa comp and fractured his skull. oh yes.
the one time i went `1990 i think, there was a seriously 70+ year old guy in red cagoule with full beard rollerskating that bowl.
it got demolished 91 0r 92 i think.

the stevenage one was filled in but they other bits are still behind the big building
-
Yeah Stevenge Bowes Lion skate park was where i spent 82-84, it went a bit skate board-ish a few years back....but i think the BMX's have taken it back now......i drive past it all the time...but haven't stopped and taken a look for years!
The three leaf clover was the best!
The piccies of knebworth are class mate! when did they get rid of the park and track? god that track knackered me out!
-
Just found this as well -
http://www.slowdown.co.uk/britishskatemuseum/britishskateparks/KNEBWORTH.asp
Quality place was Knebworth, train ride, see the famous and pretty 80's pop star in the village and then ride in great surroundings.....good times.
Knebworth did have a monster bowl though....anorther great place flattened.
Pics were taken when RAD mag got word of it being demolished in the late 80's and ran a photo shoot just before the bulldozers arrived.

its a shame they dont start building some proper concrete parks again in stead of these stupid fooking metal sh1t bolax t1t cooont parks were you slip all over the place
-
looks like my bully button at the mo' with all the weight ive put on since breaking my leg
-
Thats me on the bike in the bowl!!!, I posted that pic on VBMX a few years back, I have loads more of that park including one of me on my TA at about the level of the fence, the thing with that bowl was to get out of the top you first had to take off around three quarters of the way up the wall as it curved away, so just to get level you were around six feet of air plus the three feet to the fence level, it was a very scary view from there!. I have a pic of the old roller geezer too, he looked like uncle albert on skates!!
-
Hi
Where is it?
Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Deffo Wickstead.A bunch of us went from "the humps" ( Broadmarsh Banks ,Nottm) in about 88 or 89.A couple of the guys dads dropped us off there for the day.As Kirk said you the lip was about 4 foot from the top,I over rotated an air in it and almost shit myself ;D

Thats a wall of deth ride around te bowl type thing that one, riding into it took some gutts, very scary
-
visited that place once or twice in the very early days - and it was terryfying. Hats off to Chilly who owned that bowl.
Weirdest bowl ever, and its right that you had to take off about 5' below ground level as the whole top was rolled out.......not that I got there, concrete still scares me
and interested to know who the Broadmarsh lot are on here..........Dingo - I knows you, but the others?????
-
THIS PLACE IS DEFINITELY WICKSTEAD PARK, NEAR KETTERING. PROBABLY THE BEST SKATEPARK I EVER RODE - AWESOME.
IT GOT BULLDOZED YEARS AGO- SOMETHIN TO DO WITH INSURANCE.
YOU COULD CARVE ROUND THE BOWL AT HIGH SPEED- COME BACK ON YOURSELF AND JUMP OUT OF THE CORNER. LEARNT 720'S HERE.......
