Title: Courier bike pick up anywhere in the UK for £20
Post by: billstup on October 31, 2006, 10:41 PM
Just copied and pasted this over here  :daumenhoch:

I was trawling ebay and came across this advert. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220010701990&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fsearch.dll%3Fcgiurl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%252Fws%252F%26fkr%3D1%26from%3DR8%26satitle%3D220010701990%26category0%3D%26fvi%3D1

I sent a message to the guys explaining I was on the forum and that quite often people wanted bikes that were local pickup only. This was there reply

Tried them for a Raleigh Bomber from Manchester to My hoose in the highlands £67, the person used royal mail and it was £14.

Probably cheap for england but not cheap to Scotland

Used them today £25... they dont actually do the delivering... They sub out to Amtrak who actually collect and send your parcel.
Quick service  ;)  I would check level of insurance beforehand for expensive stuff :daumenhoch:

Just a heads up for you fellas,

Ive had nothing but trouble with these.

1 bike and 1 frame and fork set collected tuesday for delivery (hopefully) for wednesday.

They delivered them but arse about tit. so the frame and frk set went to the guy who ought the bike and vice-verse

Notsorted out until today with failed collection pomises and faled delivery promises.

Use at your peril.
Complete bag-o-wank in my opinion.
And VERY,VERY rude when critisism made.

Lancs Couriers have stopped doing bikes/F+F , they say temporarily but who knows .

I just booked a collection last friday with www.Interparcel.com (easy forms & a selection of services , not the cheapset) , the F+F should arrive with me today so we'll see  :daumenhoch:.

Title: Re: Courier bike pick up anywhere in the UK for £20
Post by: Mattdub on February 04, 2007, 05:54 PM
It's based on weight/size ( F+F box or bike box ? )  :daumenhoch:

20kg is £14.99 + VAT by 12noon or 3pm next day ( can't remember which ) .

Extra cover can be added ( std is £150 I think ) .

i work in the freight/transport industry, dont be surprised if they bomb out permanantly, those prices are about break even that's including if they use Amtrack.  I wouldn't carry them for that unless it was huge business!!!

I sub out most of my stuff for uk via TNT they've not really let us down much, also perhaps try business post/ dhl etc

I used parcels4 delivery the other day.  I was charged £9 for next day delivery and took out the £5 insurance cover.  With vat it came to just £17.  The bike was collected and delivered by parcel force and was a flawless service.  I am going to try them again today, so fingers crossed it wasnt first time luck

Are these boxed bikes? or complete bikes? you've been sending, as I'm after a courier who can take complete bikes, just wrapped up in card etc.
Anyone got any info?

mine was a full bike. a heavy bugger too. go into any local bike shop + ask for a box. mine was a mountain bike box. wrapped it up with poundland cellophane + bubble wrap (front wheel off) easy peasy..

hey guys,i use parcels2go for everything.they're a company who will use DHL and others(who i cant remember just now,as im on the red!)for couriering .
if you give a weight of around 7kg's ,and a box size of 90cmx60cmx30cm you will only pay just under £9.thing is its only insured for £50.ive bought stuff costing well above that and its always been delivered.they say up to 2-3 days but i usually get mine the day after(i do live in a city though, plymouth)
worth giving them a go,and the websites well simple.simple for me :uglystupid2:

if its heavier and bigger than you say it'll still get delivered for £9.go on you know it makes sense!!

The best couriers around are Parcel2go. You can book and print your delivery labels on line and they  will collect the next working day and usually deliver the day after.
I've sent Bombers all over the UK and 3 to Holland all with no trouble ans a bomber is a hefty bike!!
I also use them to send heavier items such as frames and mixed lots rather than use the postal service as all items are traceable. Another useful thing they have is a online chat box where you can get answers to most questions you may have about their services.

10% discount for the next week if you enter the code JAN201010 when prompted

Just used the company at the top of this thread.
I found them rude and uncooperative! the price was 50% Higher than stated and the staff have given me the runaround since yesterday morning!
They say they will pick up the bike on Monday, But I foresee problems.
It always shocks me to find companies that treat there customers in this way (although most of them do)
Why do firms in this country act as if they are doing you a favor when you are paying good money for bad service?
