Title: arsed and not arsed
Post by: team_teapot on September 22, 2005, 10:59 PM
after watching the guys race at bournemouth in the not arsed class i have to say once that gate dropped there was a few arsed sandbaggers looking for an easy win but having to work extra hard for that not arsed top spot.
that gate dropped and bang you all thought you was 14 years old again and giving it every thing you had.
in future do you guys think it will be better to run just one old school class and take it to 1/4's and have a final for everyone. so that you race and end up in the final that is more your pace?

how about a class for "hardly able to even ride a bike anymore" as my 20 stone plus with 2 shot knees could make me a prime contender for last place in a race like this :-[

Why dont we just organise a RadBmx race day and make up classes based on weight! Everyone moans that they are too heavy for this or too old for that so as we're all abit older lets do it by weight.......sort of 10-12 stone 12-14 etc etc.

As the winner of the not arsed final i dont know if this is a dig at me, but
as i have said before my decision to go not was based purely on the fact
i went practicing with Dirtyvans and he jumped everything on the track
which i CANT do so i assumed everyone in arsed was of that standard, i
havent been near a track in 19 years. At the end of the day it was just a
bit of fun and i apologise if anyone thinks i or any of the riders who
entered not arsed were sandbagging.

Kev........You did really well someone had to win!!!! I also know you're near retirement mate so guys you should be ashamed to pick on the poor old sod, next year Kev will be in one of those blue three wheel cars so leave him alone!!

Just kidding mate and i still maintain a very well done to you.

yeah, i blame you Kev, bloody sandbaggers!  ;D

i know what you mean though Rich, It's been like this every time we've split the groups. i think maybe it's time to come up with another formula?

Amybe the first 16 in the moto's are through to the arsed finals and the rest into the not arsed?

we could have a few qualifying races to see what class you should be in?

The widows could be the judges and we could have a third catagory for the 'not capable in any way'! ;) That would be my level :-[

Being the only member eligible, Orb will clean up in the 8 stone and under... ;)

I agree ditch the 2 classes on race day and just have one old school class. full stop.

We can run the not arsed race around 1 am the morning before race day.  A few beers, hook up the wonder lights and we're good to go for some not arsed fun. :)

The only problem I can forsee, and I think I say it for a lot of us out there, is having to have a run off/semi final in addition to the final. My heart always sinks when I find out I have another race in addition to a final, and my poor old bones are weary by that point and prone to making me crash.

if your arsed about winning then go in the arsed, if your not arsed then go in the not arsed. i went in the arsed because i thought it would be unfair to race not arsed considering i rode the nationals this year, even tho iam sh#te.
a few people ticked the wrong box and went in not arsed maybe they will no better next time.

i usually ride the arsed aswell, but with only 5 entries compared with the not arsed about 20, it was pointless. It didnt matter if you fell of as there was nothing to qualify for.

scrap the 2 groups definitely, i'll be riding the not arsed next time anyway ;D

Yeah, I think in future we will have just the one class and have `A` and `B` finals next time. I don`t think Kev did anything wrong btw, I was in not arsed too and as an ex pro should have really gone in the arsed, even though I wasn`t  ;)

I ticked the not arsed box, and ended up in the arsed race - I subsequently feel that I justified my not arsed approach by coming 5th or below in all my races.
Clearly all you have to do is ride like a nonce!

Still enjoyed it though!

Teapot rode the brits yesterday. It takes bigger balls to go down Cheddar than to ride round Bournemouth, believe. But he is a big fat sh!t stirer!

I think you should all have one class then go down to C or D finals, that way every one gets at least 4 laps.

When I did the first Alans old school national in Warrington it was Split into ex-pro and never a pro. I don't think that worked, I was never a pro but I think I would have beaten most of the ex-pros because of my fitness levels on a track with no jumps. (not wishing to sound big headed, just making an observation)

yes I did not ride. Im one of the blokes that you all said thanks to in another thread. the ones that work to put the events on. on the day it was my intention to ride but when our paramedic fell off and had to go to hospital we was faced with a situation where you guys nearly had to go home without racing. therefore i held a flag enabling you guys to race.

this was no way a dig at any one but i feel so far the discussion has gone well. and many of you joking a side can see that having one big old school class with finals for every one could be another way of doing things next year.

run offs yes they suck. what ever happned to the count back system? would you guys prefer to do the count back system and save your legs and lungs? i know i like it better that way.

The idea of Arsed and not arsed came about because people did not want to get all serious on bikes costing shed loads to restore , only to be t boned in a "Serious race"  OR forced off by someone taking it very seriously and being all competative.

That to me meant that if i was in not arsed i would not expect to fk my bike up in a big way by someone on a bike that is just enough to be classed as old and bending the rules smashing into me.

So I would not race old school if it was open to everyone for that reason.

I reckon the not arsed class must have been repealed about a year ago cos you haven't raced since last winter LOL

Fair point san , but all that competion does my head in TBO it was all so much more fun , when we could stop for a fag half way round.
