Title: rarest frame
Post by: motomagII on November 14, 2006, 08:09 AM
from billys changa auction last week ive changed my view on what i thought was the most valued and rare framesets around .was amazed at how much that went for .
my view was sought after pk ripper.skyway etc etc all rounds 200-500 quid ish say but 700 and odd
most expensive and rarest frame in my view was the loop quad as ive never seen one in flesh but maybe i could be very wrong

Agreed.  I don't think I've ever seen one for sale since BITD.  I was going to buy one once Neil started riding one. Looked a lovely frame.  I honestly think if one of them came available, the price would go through the roof.

Rare?

Hmmm

When did you last see a TA24?

Or as Dordles says, a holeshot RF1

Strange thing is, some of the Vincents are a bit rare too.

As are Fox Four's

Badlanders

The STR-1 is a rare beast, a rare one indeed.

jeez, i'd forgotten about the slingshot frame.

also, i may be wrong, but I don't recall seeing a Scorpion Brakedancer (yes it's spelt correctly!) on here as ridden my Andy Preston.

Did anyone ever buy the BH Trickstyler? I remember it being advertised by Halfords and it was orange, around £140-£150. I nearly bought one, as it was being advertised when I was looking for my first bike and I couldn't afford a decent one. It was the closest I could have got to a Neil Ruffell orange street beat
Luckily a benefactor came in and I managed to get a Skyway...  :LolLolLolLol:

They are most definately rare...and lovely, but, we've seen all of those.

Hands up anyone who has ever seen a Holeshot RF1? In the flesh? On a forum? Or even know of anyone with one?

Title: Re: rarest frame

the rare hybrid trickstar that woody is on from a  advert that was baby blue . never seen one and most probably never will

Saw that one in the flesh, ridden at the Tizer Worlds by (I think) Rick Allison; it was one coool frame. I remember talking to him about it, he said it was a prototype design to follow up the original TS. The TS2 Chris Potts rode was more of a ramp bike, I think the intention was to have Sport & Master equivalents.

A mate of mine had one (a Holeshot RF1). He got it direct from the Ruff house and has a few funny stories about the phonecalls made to them.

I just heard back from him and he is coming to the epic event so if you want, he can tell you all about what a great frame it was, and about how it got stolen from his shed, along with an old, never built performer and ta (I think)!!!

If were talking BMX Frames generally,

No one has mentioned the original early PK Ripper with the Round Top Tube yet ?

I only know of one in the UK, apparantly there are only about 5 in existence (they only made 100 originally) ? I saw one sell on ebay for £630 in very rough condition (frame only)  :shocked:earlier in the year. So rare i'd say !  ::)

Didnt Carlo have one of the MDP frames, I dont think it lasted long though. No idea what it looked like.

As for the Hutch one offs, Rick Allison did have the weird prototype, but Woody also had a one off trick star, which had a drilled out plate supporting the platform, rather than the two little tubes on the normal frame.

I can't remember the full story, but it was packaged up and destined for the USA (to Chip) and it was then burgled from the guy's house. He then got it back and auctioned it again, where I won the auction. Obviously I was a little dubious after what had happened, so I asked to go and collect. The seller sounded reluctant but after a few phone calls we agreed I could collect. It turns out, I reckon this guy was legit, he was reluctant for me to collect because he'd just been burgled - makes sense.

As it turns out - he's alright. We've spoken on the phone a couple of times as he collects old school BMX and he may even be a member/lurker here ???

Obviously I was destined to be it's owner (If I remember rightly Chip snaffled it from under my nose) :tickedoff: :LolLolLolLol:

Sorry Rom Bloke, thats diffrent to the one i remember, the one i saw had the twin toptube, just like the haro freestyler, and a coaster brake anchor on the bottom of the rear stay tube. I think yours may be a later or earlier one, (not sure which)

You're talking about the one that was on ebay the other day. Look at Ruler's Faze 7 - notice anything similar?  ;)

I don't think you'll be able to find those rounded bottom profile bars, but the flat bottomed ones come up for sale every now and then (check the test I emailed you). The stem will also be hard to find.

Post by: harris on November 28, 2006, 07:19 PM
i was going to say about the stem as it will need a spinner and race version wont cut it for length .
i looked at the bars and for now will use hutch ladders till someone spots a set   :daumenhoch:
cheers moose the font of knowledge.

I not sure if one of those stems ever surfaced. I know James (twintoptuber) was looking for one ages ago, but if he found one or not, I don't know :daumenhoch:

I have just found one of those profile stems in silver,  but it does not have a hollow bolt. I think it must be a racing version but im not dead sure im afraid. It has the profile emblem imprinted on the top of it.

Cool, you're thinking of buildig up a Prostyler.  Nice!

Here's a pic of mine decked in full Profile:

The race version of the lockjaw stem is the same as the freestyle, but with a Potts bolt.  I think I dropped a Tuf Neck bolt in mine as it lined up nicely on the quill, but don't hold me to it.  I'll try and pull mine out to take a look if you like.  The bars are difficult to find and I know where you can find a NOS set.  Just PM and I'll give you the lead.  Don't try and get greedy as the owner will only sell one set and if you ask for more/others, he won't sell you anything.  Good luck building it up.

I'm still trying to finish mine, but hopefully some time soon.  Still can't figure out the grips/wheel combo just yet  :idiot2:
