Great pics, he was always my fav. pure inspiration. When I put on my Bell 3 helmet, I though I was him.
-
cool pics,i think mike.d was the boss though.
-
that fakie shot. was he doing a demo in a prison?
cool shots haven't seen them before..
-
The shot you think is a fakie is actually a 540 I reckon. Its on the TOL ramp which was outside the Freestylin offices. Sure this was a contest they had there around 88-89.
-
I might be wrong about that ramp but sure its a 540 tho....

Yeah your right mate its a 540 :daumenhoch:.
-
For me it was how smooooth he was
-
Yeh he was smooth, but Mike D just seemed to have all the time in the world.... :coolsmiley:
-
back brake always on right never was other way ???????????
-
It is a 540 and its on the Vans / Gale Webb half pipe, but considering Mike D was doing them 8-9ft out at that time, I know who I think was the raddest. As for fakies, Dominguez was doing those 6ft out too, including kicked out table fakies and 1 hand 1 foot 540's and big 540's over the canyons and 900's blah, blah, etc, etc!!
-
Hahahaha I have to agree with Radders there although back in the day I did prefer the smooth style of EF. After meeting and riding with him on a couple of occasions he did seem to have an air of self importance about him.... Im sure Im not the first to comment on this either :idiot2: Anyways the riding speaks for itself like Radders said 900's big 540's etc etc Dingo ruled! Did I read earlier in the year that he was riding again ??? ????
-
;D ;D Yeah, Mike D was rad, as was Brian Blyther, Fiola was good, but I never rated him as highly as the other two.
Dave, how's the riding going these days? Are you up to much?
Rob Steele has told me that its time I got my bike back out of the shed for my annual 'comeback'. One of these days I'll get back into it and ride for a bit more than a couple of weeks in the winter. ::)
-
Yep sounds familiar m8, I too have a lot of excuses and a bit of an old farts body going on
-
I'm still doing lots of cycling, but the road racing sort, I never thought I'd see the day I was a regular lycra wearer, but it keeps me fit.
In case anyones wondering why Blyther was radder than Eddie then check this out !!

Guys - I wasn't saying that Eddie Fiola was/wasn't raddest dude in the world, I was just highlighting a few particularily rad pics of the little fella...
Those pics are without a doubt fecking rad...we can have a Mike D and Brian B love-in another time. ;) ;D
BTW...the debate was covered a while ago: http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=13741.0

Point taken, Eddie was rad, but even by 84 he was starting to be overshadowed. He was the ultimate showman back on those days, which is why I think more people remembered him compared to Mike D. Dominguez almost seemed like a recluse in comparison, he'd just turn up at a contest blast some huge airs and then disappear again, not to be seen again, until the next contest, whereas Eddie was always about.
Definitely time for a BB / Mike D photo thread though, unless this constitutes one already ;)
-
Yep, Eddie was flaggin by the end of 84 compared to Mike D, etc... who just took it to another level... but Eddie will alway be the one I remember and the reason why I bought a Performer! Like you say...he was a great showman and that's what freestyle was all about, but times change.
Bring on the BB and Mike D truibute! :daumenhoch:
