Title: PAINT OR POWDER COAT??
Post by: dwain dibbly on November 22, 2006, 11:07 AM
I'm building a bike for my own use gunna use it at vw events in the summer I'm doing it on a budget as I won't be showing it or racing it but I still want it to look good.
I'm starting with a chrome f+f but I'm wanting if yellow as was the gt pro performer. will I be able to get away with painting it or will it look naf? any idea of what the colour code is?
or do I need to have it powder coated?

Powder is a lot harder wearing & still not expensive  :daumenhoch:

powder coat directly over the chrome
it just needs a good clean first, and flat down any rust.
the powder coaters should degrease it for you. it DOESNT need blasting/stripping. the smooth chrome is a great base for powder. and it's a lot tougher / cheaper than paint too. for a rider.

I don't think there is anyone local to me that does powder coating.
but if I can find someone at a reasonable price what was the colour that was on the pro performer?
