Title: head sets and bottom brackets

hi guys after a bit of advice here. got a frame with head set cups and bottom braket cups still on. i need to remove  and fit new .whats the best way firstly ,remove without damaging the frame . then secondly how to fit new cups again with out causing damage.do you need the correct tools or is a good old piece of wood and hammer ok .

grease the cups to fit & use the block of wood & hammer to fit, should be no probs, make sure you dont have the bare frame resting on something that could damage it, as for getting them out, an old screw driver & hammer will do the trick, knock them out from the inside ;)

you can obviouslty by the correct tools for both these procedures fella, but i personally use the block and hammer method, some would disagree but it aint let me down yet

i use a piece o 14mm studding large washers and nuts and 2 square bits of ply about 3" x 3" with 14mm holes in (these act as washers sa well and protect the cups from damage ....a home made cup press  :4_17_5:

i use a length of threaded bar too (got mine from wickes)
and the plastic fitting cups that came with a set of new flites
and a few big washers as well  to fit headsets or BB's

easy peasy

hard thwacks accompanied by cries of 'get in yer basyard' , most important thing has been said, don't forget where the rest of the frame is whilst thwacking is commenced.

I also have found this method to work the best  ;D
