i think that one was designed by sean mckinly (sp?)
amos burke rode one too
wicked frame in it's day
-
I was going to buy that too but I managed not to, thanks to my "No A-head" rule. I dont think they ever made the sabbath in 1" which is a shame as I would like one.
btw, its McKinney's birthday today!
-
thats the earlier model with the full size platform.
i think very first models only came in black and red
-
a friend of mines still has his in red and will not part with it no matter how mahy times i ask him,
was the sabbath lite the last version?
moeller let mckinney re- design the "heavy as fook" and the warpig was the result,
anyone have a good photo of an s&m menstrual cycle? (sounds bizarre!!)
-
i no of a sabbath complete in red 1 1/8 headset .
-
that sabbath is old too
circa 1996
-
I've got an early one like that in red, in really good shape but dropouts have been opened out to 14mm
-
Did you know, when McKinney designed the Sabbath frame, he made a 1:1 prototype out of plastic tubing. He worked out all of the cuts, joins and angles and tubing sizes all made of plastic. It made it very easy to show the machine shop what he wanted cos it was all there infront of them.
McKinney rules!

Alex if i remeber right your bike had a lot of small mods ... didt you have a left side drive?
-
that right. As far as I know I had the first LHD. I was fed up of snapping chains every run. I made a new "cassette" for a shimano MTB hub that you could screw a 16t freewheel onto, and then screw to the hub (backwards). I still have the wheel. It was built on a araya aero (prob the best 36 hole rim at the time) with thick guage spokes.
I have done all kinds of crap to my bikes to make them work better (thickened up drop outs, added chain adjusters, front brake mounts) but my latest ride (built about 6 months ago) is all off the shelf, non modified! It was very strange not to have to change a dam thing!!!
-
I've got one in the shed. It's got a stuck (but turning) seatpost and it's bit beaten-up from its time as a street bike. Just a few dents on the chainstay, nothing serious. The plan was to make it look presentable in the New Year and use it whilst the T1 gets refinished -there's rust under the clearcoat.
Are they good to ride? The HAF didn't really fare well, and a couple just finished on eBay without making the reserve.
No plans for it afterwards, so watch out for a Spring Sale.
-
Didn't Troy McMurray design the Warpig?
-
Yes, Troy and Sean
-
shall we just turn this into an s&m appreciation thread!?

i always thought the holmes was named after john holmes the porn star because it was long!
it was dave clymers sig model anyway,
-
I was just joking. The Holmes was named after John Holmes, not sure if Clymer designed it. Homeless bikes ripped off the dirtbike design and the HAF was a reaction to Standards. The Widow maker was named after Dee Snider (of Twisted Sister) other band cos he raced 24" for a while ... but Keith and John did design the Menstrual frame and maybe the "stupid" forks too (1" clamp on).
-
I think the PBR was John Paul Rogers' frame. Remember JPR? I met him at a UGP roots jam and he was one of the coolest guys i've ever met.
-
prince albert cranks ..... had two pairs of these both of which ripped the arms off the axle...... :tickedoff:
-
Ooooo, have you still got um?
I know a great welder!!!
-
I snapped a set of Alberts too, they're still around somewhere i'll have to get looking.
-
ive seen alexs mates work bloody wicked i couldnt see the weld perfect job
-
Can I have 1st dib dobs on um? Please!
Here is a pic of my old set taken in 94ish. If you look close you can also see my ally body/steel sleeve pegs (before t1 "invented" it), my home made 4 spoke sprocket pocket to fit a flight ring, canti front brake and my legendary PE hubs with LHD. What a bike!

-
looks great mate ,i made my chainring bashguard from 1/2 " thick clear nylon and it lasted
-
That one was a plastic chopping board. A white one, and I tried to paint it black.
-
Honestly Alex I have one arm left I think and I can gaurentee they're not fixable. The first set that I snapped was 360'ing over my mates Ferrari 308 GTB Dino from a 5' fly off to flat I came up perfect but I landed square and the cranks Just snapped clean (Dave Morten was holding the ramp) acceptable as i came down from about 8' but the second time I snapped a set going over a small gap over a wall to flat and they just went like butter...... :-[
-
Hey Ive still got some footage of us riding that ramp from the session with all the scottish guys and the Standard crew Alex
-
PE hubs! I remember all your innovations now Alex! You should have been a millionaire! My Alberts were the later double pierced versions, i'll try to find them at the weekend.
-
what you running alex a rgd gyro ,cant be can it.
-
I can supply scans of the PA stickers if anyone needs them.
-
young mr alex has my only set of pa but didnt no they had decals
-
Any PA sticker scans would be great, thanks. (Are they the ones that were ripped off Prince Albert tobacco?) That might mean I could return Harris's cranks in better condition I got them in ... I didnt think that would be posible!
Id really be interested in any Broken PA cranks (are there any other type? ha ha). I have a lot of S&Ms that are crying out for cranks! n.b. Non broken PA cranks would also be considered!
-
I actually have a thrashed set of first gen PA's on my old flatland bike - the bolt got stuck in the spindle and No matter how hard I tried to bash the arm off the spindle it wouldnt come off.
So basically I have left these cranks on the bike as they work totally fine without the nutts holding on the arms ... Its one of those jobs where I plan to restore them at some point but never get arround to it.
I will try and scan the stickers later this week - and yes they are the original logo ones.
If I remeber correctly - I heard a rumor a long time ago that you (alex) named these cranks .... or they were named after you and your bod mod.
Could this be true?
-
ha ha, that’s a funny rumor. I wasn’t involved in the naming of the cranks but I wish I was. I was at S&M when the first 20 sets came in. They looked great and Moeller was holding back as what to do with them. Timmy Ball needed cranks so he had the first set on his bike and took off for the day riding. Later that day we were looking at his bike and the cranks weren’t level. Non of the 20 cranks lined up and it turned out that the splines at each end of the spindles werent’ in line with each other. Timmy had been riding his bike all day and didn’t even notice. All the spindles, and crank arms went back (in case the arms were out too) and Timmy (and me) were gutted that we didn’t get any nice new first Gen Prince Alberts!

Dave, that was a great session with the Standard and Scottish guys but its a diferent ramp. That pic was taken at Lea-on-sea.
what you running alex a rgd gyro ,cant be can it.
Ha ha, that is a very normal oddy gyro but it did have a knurled headset lock nut under the stem and a thin strip of black tape round it to keep the upper cable nipples in.
