Title: Bell Moto 7 Helmets for sale on eBay – are they any good for BMX?
Post by: Stevo on December 16, 2006, 10:18 PM
Fellas,

These helmets are up for sale on eBay. I remember the Moto III was the helmet to have in 80's, but not sure if the new Moto 7 is good for BMX.

I know the Bellistic model is designed for BMX, but surely the Moto 7 is a stronger helmet, but probably heavier. Bellistics usual sell new for £60, so £90 for these Motos must be a good deal.

Having ridden a few parks with an open face, I want a full face for more protection.

Here's the eBay link:

Help/comments appreciated as always. Wishing all the members great festive season!  :)

That does seem very cheap for a very good helmet. I would get one if I wore full face.

I had one, had it custom sprayed but snapped the chin peice off it face planting on Mansfields tracks rythm section a few years back, pretty sure it saved my life (or at least stopped me from being (more of a) a cabbage)
Buy one you know it makes sense  :daumenhoch:

They are the Moto 7 K , the cheaper moto 7 that bell made , or should i say the company that bought bell helmets off bell , so they are like cheap copys , should be ok tho . Bell have now rebought there company back (a while ago now) and there is nothing like a Moto 7 R what is what ya want . And look better in my view .

Go to Bell Helmets and import one , who cares about price , like how much is ya head and face worth to you ? They are doing some good deals at the moment . Sale prices work out to be about £75 for helmet with free fleece bag and shipping cost works out about £25

Shipping cost i've been quoted in the past from bell was $55 what is approx £25 - £30 as i said approx , Maybe more now , and yes you may pay more or not when it arrives (import tax , customs etc) But who cares about a couple of quid here and there ? I don't work for bell so what i said wasn't to be taken literaly ! I was giving you all an idea of about £100 inc postage and your saying about £115 inc postage , woopy doo , an extra £15 quid more than i said , big deal , or should i say a good deal to get a proper moto 7R that will keep your good looks and scull in good shape !

For goodness sake some of you are so anal ! I was just trying to put a little of my knowledge into this site and help a few people thats why i put the links on here for anyone to find out all the proper details for them selfs . Der da der ...  :LolLolLolLol:

7 and 7R just seems to be the peak and padding i think ? Thay both look cool , just don't like the overall shape of the 7K , to much differance in the shape and as i said before i'm sure it was made by the other company that owned bell for a short time , don't know if that is all true , it's just what i was told by a rep i seen when i was in florida last year ,  :daumenhoch:

Cool man ,  site analiser , i wasn't throwing a dig at you , but as i said i was only trying to put a bit of imput into the site and help people , and i think people are aware that importing stuff can pose a problem with customs and put extra costs on top , but if they don't thats good advise mr site analiser  , so all take notice of this !

Thanks for the response lads.

OBBIE, I didn't realise there are two types of moto 7's. Checked out the Bell site link and I prefer the Moto 7R, which you say is the better helmet. Not that much more expensive than the 7K (posted at the start of this thread).

MADALL, I lovin your old school moto 3 collection, they look mint.

Cheers

There is 4 type's of moto 7 , Moto 7 , Moto 7R , Moto 7JR and the one i don't like , the 7K ,,, All worth buying tho if you like ya face the way it is , in fact any full face would be better than any of these open face helmets everyone is wearing nowadays , idiots if you ask me , one day they will inevertable feel the true pain from a face slam ,  :uglystupid2:

Just before we all get into a Mrs. Madall-fest,  could I just stick my oar in for a moment and say please please try and get a fitting for any lid you're thinking of buying.....

So if we're all going moto7 crazy and insist on buying from ebay, get down to your local mx shop and try one on.  A badly fitting hemet will hurt you - guaranteed.

Remember, with the chinstrap UNDONE, you should not be able to rotate the lid on your head, nor should you be able to pull it straight up and off your noggin.  Look out also for excessive pressure on your forehead; this may not neccessarily be cured by a larger size - you may not have a 'bell' headshape, they dont fit everyone....  If this is the case, try an Arai lid (the best lids around in my opinion).

Whatever you do, unless you know your own headshape very well, don't buy a lid cold without a fitting; its a gamble......

Lecture over   ;)

As you were   ;D

Got one of those moto 7K's and they're the dogs.  Needed  a smaller bash hat as other 1 was a little too loose.  I must have the smallest head around.  So now have this Bell SCX spare, if anyones interested.

You're very welcome   :)   One of my 'things' is safety gear.....  One other thing I forgot to mention, be sure to buy the coolest lid you can find, as stupid as it might sound us vain fellows are much more likely to actually wear the lid we think we look the bollocks in....  ;)
