afternoon folks,
can anyone help me identify a gt performer frame from the serial number?
where should it be and what format should it be in?
I've a frame here with the following stamped on the bottom bracket:
DS 7 *****84
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Brian.

Need pics mate so we can ID properly

Is it a Performer or Pro Performer? Does it have a cable mount under the bottom bracket? If it does, it's probably an '87 Performer
-
yep! it does moose, has a cable stop below the BB and a brake bridge on the chainstays to take a centre pull caliper, as opposed to AD lugs.
Do you know was the performer only partially cromo or full cromo?
Brian.

You are probably right, but I have seen 5 GT Pro Performers from 1985 and they all started G5 followed by another letter A to L to presumably ID the month and then a series of numbers. This type of serial number I think comes from when they switched production to the Far East.

Ja.. the F6 is a June of '86 overseas bike or so I think based on the serials of the GT 's that have gone through my hands.
my overseas '85's are F5 and G5 sernos.
