As it says, split the For Sale section in two:
For Sale - Priced
For Sale - offers

Good call, would make it easier for all :daumenhoch:

Personally i think you should have a price check section and a "for sale" section
Then there's no confusion.
All posts should have a price or be deleted.
-
I like ya thinkin Bru :daumenhoch:

don't split the for sale section
if an item is priced or up for offer it is still technically "for sale"
-

Do you not think that "offers" is too vague though???
I can offer a tin of beans for something - and lets face it there are posts offering as much.
I reckon a hard fast rule of prices and prices only would clear a lot of confusion up.
A price check section would clear up any confusion as to an items worth.
offers leads to an ebay scenario.
Just my 2p worth

items for "offer" is not great but you can't ban them completely, as sometimes, offers is the only way. sometimes!

Who is going to actually supply price check information, what about market variation, also only good for stuff that comes up regular where market price can be gauged? You can say ebay these items but then where does that leave the ethos of keeping it RAD and tryna hook up our guys? Not lookin for an argument just see fundamental flaws in the price check section, relies too much on people being willing to help (not just their mates) and a good degree of honesty, who polices the police etc........

Ive been a memboer of a well known hardware site forum for years, and their members market has only "for sale" "price check" and "wanted" sections in there.
They don't tolerate offers at all, leaving that for ebay.
I realise that hardware and bmx's are fundamentally different in price ethics.
I also realise that the trade section works well on here so no probs with that.
The problem within the "for sale" section arises when offers are asked for.
If there's a hard and fast price put down in the for sale section i belive it'd work better , rad members have the right to offer as near to that as possible - they don't have to buy.
It works soooo much better than "offers" within a for sale environment.
All im saying is that if the seller puts a price down then rad members will either pay it or they wont - simple as really.

Get what your saying, but, just supposing a member on here requests summat, owner of said item doesn't know what value is nor does anyone else so gets thrown on the bay wth a fair chance that all that needed on here will lose out to a last minute deep pocketed sniper?

Thats why a price check section would be a good idea.
The more educated members could then come in and help - i used to with hardware.
I know you get the old saying "somethings worth what someone is prepared to pay for it"
But then it comes down to common sense from the seller.
-
And i am saying it doesn't see the profile neck on ebay ??? what happened to common sense and the experienced members then? Look not gonna fall out or waste masses of time when we clearly have differing standpoints. I think you will find that more and more users start putting things onto the bay and when members PM for a price will be told sorry gonna let it run/don't know value and those that find offers annying will find all the bay links equally annoying. Nuff said, I thought it was a good idea as it stood Bru, if they leave it as is then we will all know the answer in time ;)
-
what the for sale section really needs is no non-bmx items
-
I did ask the Admins about this, but only in relation to the splitting out of non-BMX. Up to Dave and Billy ultimately, but whatever we do it needs to be simple and easy to administer.
-
probably just easier to bung anything non-bmx in the "lounge"
-

That would be good, like Antiques Roadshow experts for BMX :)

See what ya mean totally ;)
Just giving my experience from another forum that works.
Might not work on here as the items are 20+ years old in a lot of cases but it was just a thought.
Perhaps a poll might be a good idea.??
LMFAO at that geezer man/woman thing
He's just wierd ???
Hang on though - he might just fit in

sure offers are usualy for somthing that is worth alot of money, the only way to determine the market value is to do a completed items listing and then round it up and make your offer its not hard
-
I think we should do what they did on v and stop people being able to reply in for sale so that deals are not done on the site. That way the seller is the only one that gets the pm's or emails and it's up to him what he does about it and the rest of us don't have to keep being dragged into stuff we don't want to.

sounds good

the vintage for sale section is wank
you cant even alter the thread, let alone bump. and no one can ask questions.
wank
dont do it!
if that happens i will post for sale items in the other sections

heres the way i see this....
radbmx isnt ebay....if you want to put somthing up for an 'open to offers' type sale, (which incidentally pisses me off) put your item on an auction site.
if you want to sell it at a fixed price that you are happy with then feel free to use our for sale section.
this offers bollox is to open to getting members 'blind bidding' against other members, that just sucks baby bell
if you want an auction section, im sure rich can sort that out, this site is your site, we need to know what would work and what wouldnt.

Hi all
I can see the points from both sides, but what about if you want to shift an item ASAP, but are attached?
I had something very nice a while back (I rarely post in for sale), but wanted it to go to a good home and to a BMX collector, enthusiast (not on the bay).
As such, I said open to offers via PM. I got offers via PM and took one that was the least hassle for me, ideally pick-up.
This was in fact less in value than other offers, and also way less than the items worth.
The reason I did this was because I wanted rid asap and wanted a good home for this item. So in my instance offers was the best option so as not to scare anyone off (by asking the full value and have it around longer and also so that I didn't have to have to get the post Back To The Top).
I have never really been interested about the maximum money for any item, but more in giving another member a chance to own an item I don't want, as long as it will be looked after for the future of the 70's - 80's BMX History.

Funnily enough, Ebay offers a nice auction site for 'offers' and everyone gets a fair crack at an item.
I think we should do our research and set a price before we list it in the for sale section here. Rad is all about community and good will, not blind bidding against each other.
If you set the price too high, people will tell ya so and make an offer anyhow.
:)
