Hey y'all. ;)
I remember talking with somebody about this bike, after rooting around I got a catalog pic for ya.
This is from the 86 DB catalog.
The one year wonder, the alien "Grey" turbo all new for 86.
Someday I'll get everything I need & start on the DB site, there's still tons of info/pics left to be found. :-[
Enjoy. :daumenhoch:

No Max's was a loop tail painted grey
-
yep max had an 82 turbo painted grey, he is a very clued up guy, sold most of bmx stuff now i think
-

No Max's was a loop tail painted grey
always wondered why that one struggled to sell
-
That's the one I mentioned in the other thread, only I forgot the guys ID.
He was asking a lot for that thing, that's why it never sold, plus the fact it was incorrectly finished. :(
Somebody asked about this one though,I finally got the image to post showing it as factory built. :)
It's still cool but I do prefer the looptails & large gussets. :daumenhoch:
-
I stand corrected :daumenhoch: good lad tho ;)
-
i think he had another if i remember in chrome or got that painted. know what you mean if i was laying out £1200 i would want it correct. nice bike though
-
That grey turbo used to be my race bike
-
I think Max's Turbo was an 84 small gussett done in 86 Factory Grey.
I have never seen the stock spec for the 86... Thanks for posting the pictures :daumenhoch:
That Stem looks like an ESP Flying W Pro. ??? The seat will be a long hard search for anyone restoring one :(
-
nearly did me senior pro in these colours
but chose black lol
-
I like the look of that, but do prefer the larger gusset (ooh err) and the loop tail stays.
BTW, what year did Raleigh buy Diamond Back?
-
I think the older turbo looks much more purposeful than that one with the seatpost angle the same as the head angle (is there a small gusset loop tail in grey or was that just a factory riders bike?)
-
The small gussett looptail Turbo was only made 84/85 i think... They had the same finish as the early Turbos and were literally the same spec except for Suntour XCII pedals and chrome DC Tech IV levers. I think Factory Grey was available in 86 only on the straight stay Turbo but i could be wrong :)

here is the grey turbo stockport 96? the year after I blew my knee up

dan
thats a very rare sighting of the DB man @ MK
is it not?
-
That was me on the Jag, i only raced it for 12 months The frame was to raked for my liking. I then went back to a leary turbo. by far the best bike BITD
-
ace
jox/jag rare f/f me thinks then and now
i had the pleasure of giving DSS,s leary turbo a go @ MK
luverlee i do agree
thats why i bought the senior pro
v similar in dimensions :coolsmiley:
-
Yeh pretty rare back in the day, it was a loop tail model and not the one with the dropouts like the zeronine (below the chainstay) i think I am right in thinking it was made in the same factory as robinsons and national pros. Trackmaster is the name that springs to mind as the actual manufacturer but I am not sure. Although I must admit I hated it And ended up swapping it for a kuwhara laserlight which wasalso rubbish ( I thought) Things always went better on my DB.
