I thought there was a sticky topic on this but I can't find one... ???
Apart from:
longer seat tube above the gusset
lack of coaster bracket
What else can help determine Real versus Fake?
Where's the serial number?
Serial number format?
Anything else?
Brian.

ok the serial number is on the inside of the rear dropout, it sould start with a t, indicating a torker built bike, then two more letters, ie ss, then four numbers, then f
so t qq 1118 f, would be a real gen 1 serial no
there will be a gap in the welding, approx 1 1/4 long on the downtube/headtube gusset, and if its a really old one then no weld on the under side of said gusset to the headtube.
knurling on the rear drop outs.
machined head tube, but not machined bb.
if i think of anything else i will post it here....hope that helps

Hi
Even the fakes can have a coaster bracket. If I remember Falcon imported them, there are some pictures about of the advert and stating for sale around £70 (i'll try and dig it out).
The ways are pretty much what Dave has stated -
- but I am not sure that all bikes have Knurling in the same place (early adverts say they do have knurling though)
- are not always four numbers in the serial (depends on age)
The easiest way is to find the serial, see if it has a T then two letters the same (eg) AA BB CC etc and then some numbers, followed by F.

j, ive yet to see one without knurling, but there are obviously variations of most frame sets....

Non machined headtube, different style coaster tab and no knurling on the rear dropouts.

Mines got Knurling in the rear dropouts. Is it fake?
-
No, yours is fine.
I have been trying to find proof for ages that there was a Haro without knurling.
Yours is a very clean bike (I think this is yours) ;) -

Could do with some more pictures though - please email, PM or put some on Rad.
Thanks
