now, they are arms only. So, are the axles 19mm? like new profiles? IE, will a new profile spindle fit? ???
-

thanks lads.
now to try and get the pedal spindles out........
im just about to take them to the design block at my school, and get working that pillar drill.
the D+T teacher snapped his vice this morning trying to get the spindles out.....lol
-
Get some heat on them first mr fruit and they should fly out (or leave them in Diesel for a week) both might work.
-
been in diesel for a while.
was thinking chrome might get damaged if they were heated.....
-
though we do have a gas axe in the metalwork depo.......

Take the body off the pedal & just try to heat the pedal spindle, this should not damage the Chrome on the arm :daumenhoch:
-
or use hot air gun might still just be enough (flames on the chrome would damage it)
-
cant do, i just sawed it off.....lol
-
im figuring that if i can bore out enough of the pedal spindle, it will heat it up anyway and send it wizzing out. if not, it a bit of manipulation with the junior hacksaw....
-
be carefull o fruity one :)
-
well ive got a big pillar drill, and one of them job clamps, so i reckon we will be ok...
surprisingly, the pedal spindle is not hardened steel.....thought it would be.
-
dx spindles are cro mo , what pedals were on em, and have you done it yet....

no, ive had to put it off till tommorow afternoon. there is a class in there now.

Another tip that might help, put the arms in the freezer for a couple of hours, then apply gentle heat (hairdryer) on the arms, I have used this to get bottom bracket shells in, so it should work the other way :daumenhoch:
-
cool, ill put my skyways in at the same time, theyre a bit buckled...
