New to this excellent site, back in the eighties was into BMX & photography, after a 21 year break, back into BMX & photography.
Anyway, have been clearing the loft and came across some old photos that I that I had taken at Rom in Feb 1985, thought I would share with RADBMX , more to follow.

I don't know the name of this guy, but he was airing as high as Jess, Neil + Craig that day.

feckin ace photos, check the trickstar with vdc freestyle bars, i think the legend of jess getting 13ft out of the performance might have been a small fib
-

wicked pics spence
they'd make good posters
-
There are loads of these surfacing now...perhaps it's time for a classic pics section?
You could divide it by; Freestyle & Race and then by the park (rom, harrow, slades, etc) or track (b'mouth, hayes, mk, etc)...it would be a nice one stop resource then...I think someone else mentioned it in the past also...
What do you think?
I've got dozens to add!

sorry for digging up the dead but i have a pic of jess ways out of the performance bowl the day he snapped his bike in half(my dad carried the bike out)
i still have it somewhere h's up near the top of the lampost behind.i never saw jess go half as high since that crash.
-
great pics man, keep em coming,id love to see jess up by that speaker-i remember many, many rumours of that back then.
-
i watched him go higher that day eachtime til he binned it.
he knows i got the pic as i told him a few times but never remembered to bring it with me.its in my loft or my mums alomg with my gt teeshirt(yellow)signed by ediie fiola, dominguez, haro etc..

I was there on a few occasions. I don't know about the claims of 13ft..... but I can tell you that he started cranking by the pool and he didnt stop. He aired speaker height for sure.
My recollection of it was that he aired that high just for a short period of time - a few weeks maybe - and after a slam or two it was over.
Jedi - I wasn't there for any of his slams, but I always heard he snapped a set of forks off at the steerer - but you say it was a frame? Scary either way...
-
pretty sure it was his frame.
could've been front end i guess.
-
It's all the same really - nasty!!
-
I was there the day Jess broke the frame off at the head tube. On the air he only turned 90deg, and stopped rotating, then dropped like a stone, although it wasn't 13ft. Also look in the 2nd pic, u can see Paul Zak (Red top), Jason Hassel (on Pauls Right) and Jess's mate Silas (White TA, blue jumper next to lamp post). I couldn't make that day as had to work.

Cool Pic's :daumenhoch:
I think your unknow rider is Peter Breybrook who was a Basildon local i'm sure Harris can confirm as he would recognise him from back in the day.
-
Good stuff - I guess you've got loads of old pics if you were into photography AND bmx (me too!). Can't wait to see more...
