So here I am building a 36 x 16 x 7ft mid size ramp in the back garden thinking it`s going to be dope, when Carlo Griggs sends me these photos of his new back yard ramp :

There`s a 13 1/2 ft vert ramp in there and all you can see, how dope is that
-
thats mental
-
where does he live then .in a pub ?.
-
These are at the back of my office
-
blimey i would get very dissy in there
looks the nuts and yeah right next door to a pub how cool is that
-
did you have to get permision to build that.looks a bit large and very close to them bugalows.you had no complaints.
-
Its a stone throw from the beach 3 pubs close and loads of old people..
-
Dordymuch...
I had vert ramps there since 88... I had temperary planning until 98 and they gave me full then... Ive had a hard time with the council... I had to stop so many people coming here.... Inline skaters turn up at 4 in the morning in the summer and it drives me crazy... I can see them from my house though that is close...
Carlo
-
Rad gathering at Carlo's ramp lol.
-
Dordymuch
mush, dordymush ;D. looks well cool though.
-
Thanks man..
I hurt my knee a while back so ive been looking at it for 3 months now... But i rode it for the first day today..
-

Carlo
if you can see them from your house then you can see them through the sights of a sniper rifle.
do us all a favour - you know it makes sense ;)
-
We will have to organise something when its convenient with you Carlo, but you have to give me a bit of time to improve before we come down, that ramp deserves a bit better than I can offer at the moment :(
-
Man thats not a ramp :o its a skatepark 8)

Hey Bill
It would be good to see you lot here... Bring back many good memories... The ramp is fairly easy to ride but it need alot of power to ride it as the tranies are big....
I think we should make a date then but it would be cool if a load came down for a fun session..
I want to see a one hand one foot drop in... Bill
Carlo
-
Holy smoke!!! Is that just the best backyard ornament ever 8)
-
man that is my dream. can i be you. seriously organise a jam.
-

Carlo
If I was still riding a coaster I`d give it a go Carlo, but the last drop in I tried on a freewheel at Reditch ended up with me landing on me head :(
-
acs freecoaster bill.
-
that ramp setup is so dope!
props for building that.
it's a radbmx meet at your place then!
-
Bout time you finished that!! Good that your here again mate.
Steve
-
Shh...dont give Fruit any more amunition to take over the garden! :(
-
:o That is amazing, carlo. Thers is some serious carpentry skills on show there. what sort of ply are you using for the transitions ,and how long does it last outside unpainted?
man, that pub looks tempting. Cold pint, plenty of crisps and the sight of the most gifted uk vert rider ever flowing about that ramp . Sound s like the perfect summer holiday ;D
-
wicked ramp ;)
would love to have a spin around it, there must be some crazy lines in there!
bring on the old boys sesh!
-
well after spending three months off my bike it is all good to ride but a little weak...
The box is big and fun.. I got to say the lines in there are endless...
I did some of the work on the ramp but only a small bit... I had one of my riders and Piers chapman and his brother hugh build it... We had other help as well.. 600 sheets of ply... It is far eastern ply... Ply wears quick so there is no point putting £40 a sheet wood on there... £18 a sheet will do.. Skatelite is too expensive also and burns when you come off..
Having your own ramp like this is a dream...i think back to when i was a small kid watching chris young and bill and others while i was riding a plank of wood on a crate and would have never thought it would be possable to have this for myself..
The ramp unbolts into sections and i will be putting it indoors im hoping the end of next year....
Im looking forward to seeing you all here...
Carlo
-
man that is one cool looking ramp

3 months... £30,000 and a lot of headaches..
-
:o
-
well worth it, just needs a tent roof to keep the rain out or a retracting roof like wembly!
did you design it with CAD? or did it just evolve?
it looks like one of the wooden puzzels that have key piece :D
-
Cheers for the offer Carlo! Would love to see you ride some vert in the flesh!
Im new on here so dont really know anyone personally.
If you dont mind me asking where abouts is the ramp (roughly as I guess you wouldn't want it broadcasted) as i live in Croydon, South London?
Would be up for a bit of a jam!
Cheers
Paul

:o well carlos will have to get his other half to join widows i think!!! ;)

with the clever use of sattelite techology i have an overhead view of the ramp location!
however due to me being too tight to pay for the proper version of the program the image i have is approximately 2 years old :-[
the ramp location would be (by my guesstimation) pretty much by the tree in the centre of this picture!
resolution isn't amazing but that might even be a halfpipe in the pic?
i'm sure Carlo will help verify?

That grey building just down from the tree is a shop the Brown building next to it is infact Carlo's Halfpipe!!! Big enough for yer??!?!?!
-
it doesn't look like the new layout he posted pics of earlier in the thread as its probably about an 18 month old pic, but yeah, its big enough!
in fact its too big for me :D
-
Thats just the halfpipe the new layout wont be on the picture yet coz its only just been built.....Pay attention in class!!!! ;D ;D
-
Errrr........... isn't that what i said in my last post?.............................................. :-\

Showtime.. Thats funny.. i looked at google earth last week... This is a old picture...im guessing 6 years... Funny how you found the exact spot and you have not even been there...
Carlo
-
i just used the smal parts of the background in the pics you posted & matched them to the area you mentioned ;)
it only took a little while as i kinda knew roughly where Pagham was, and the rest was just a bit of detective work LOL
do you get more recent pics if you pay for the proper version of Google Earth because if you do i'd probably buy it!
the pics taken around the area i live are about 2 years out of date as i can see the level of renovation work that was done at the stables my ex missus used to keep her horse at & i could clearly see the old roof still on her building!
the only time i ever went to Pagham was to have sex on the beach down the bottom of Dark Lane, so yeah i do remember the place ;D
although we came over from Bognor & only came as far as Dark Lane which isn't as far along the coast as you are so its still somewhere i've never been :o
-
Its funny how many people know pagham... i was talking to someone who was in Cheers once who was realy famous and he used to live in pagham.... My house is realy close to dark lane....so you went down to the pagham spit car park then with some piece... Ha Ha...
-
well she was a Bognor girl LOL ;D
-

Yep it figures

Carlo, this looks pretty sick, I'm hoping to do something similar in a few months (all be it on a smaller plot) have you had any problems with Neighbours? also what's the smallest transition you can get away with that still works? as I have a 10 foot ceiling in the indoor section, so would be looking at a 3 or 4ft max 1/4er not sure what size to cut into it though. What size is the transition on your vertwall bowl on the elevated section?
-
jesus Steve ... are you Marty McFly... this thread is 8 years old!!!
-
That adds a whole new meaning to 'day at the office'
Wicked ramp :daumenhoch:
