Rippers are more sought after and in my honest opinion are still the daddy. 8)

Maybe it just shows that the rarer frames are still out there waiting to be found.

Rippers were made over a longer period (weren't they??)

I wouldn't think there were as many looptail rippers as they were only made for a short period and many snapped and were binned.
The t/a however was a much stronger beast and thats why so many have survived.

i have no desire to own either, love them both, but rippers have landing gear and ta's are pretty. i think alot of the more sought bikes are alot more common than the price suggests, jmc's are on ebay constantly and they still go for a fortune (not dissin, just statin a fact). price doesnt always reflect availability, i think that more often than not its old school attitudes that determine the price on alot of things, the old overated-underated argument. :)

i have both, i must be common now, i got my loopy as a whole bike 3 years ago from loot for £100, took a while to see another in the flesh, now they are popping up everywhere, was the same with TA's last year, i bought 4 and there were loads on ebay
anyway they are both great frames, i cant decide which is better

OI!!!!!!!!!!!  Dont dis what probably is the finest product name in the market and still made today 8) Whoever thought of 'Landing Gear' is tops in my books and are a fine fork indeed ;)

I think the loop Ripper has to be the most sought after, that it commands a higher price is testament to that fact.

not dissin at all dude, the "but" was as in "i like skyways but then again rippers have landing gear" landing gear being the tipping of the scales in my book, my all time second favourite fork. i dont normally dis without a reason, usually for fun. sorry for any confusion

ps. not the frames though, lovely welds, lovely lookin, but not quite up to a jolly good thrashin! which is where the TA comes into its own, its an all round beast of a f/f, has there ever been another crossover race/freestyle frame like it? i think not, still have no desire to own one though.

pk all the way i love them .not just looptails either my personal favourite is the pro xl .class frame looks great and still fetch good money .

There`s still a few nos Rippers at Shiners, how many nos T/A`s do you see now, well there is one at American Cycles but it`s $700.
Personally I couldn`t ride the Ripper, something just didn`t seem right and I found it very hard to do rollback 540`s on one, then it broke :(
Never broke a T/A though, and I seemed to get on fine on that ;)

I want to rebuild my old race bike from bitd. It's gonna cost me a fortune but I'll have it one day. I sold the bike in 1988 with graphite tuffs on it. I took the flight cranks off (now on my supergoose) and it had D/Y JMC bars too. Now I dont regret selling it but the price I sold it for makes me sick in the stomach today.
$250 australian.
I'm going for a cry now.........

i broke 1 of each so neither is better really ,although the ripper rode better .
both are common nowadays prefer the rarer stuff myself.

i have just bought a Scott Built Home Frame from 79 or 80(Pk Ripper),with se no1 forks.
i'm sure some of you saw it on e-bay.
It just looks like a standard looptail to me(incidentally,i havent recieved it yet its flying as we speak).
Anyone any knowledge of Scott Built Home Frames??
i want to restore it as it should be,so i need to know if it has different decals etc.

The P K Ripper is the only Frame I ever broke BITD, I like TA's much better :)
