Title: bmx facts . . . did you know?

Alloys like US 4130 and UK T45 are made from 97% iron  ???

yep, steel is iron with carbon. 4130 has a dash of chromium and a dash of molybdemem(sp) and a couple of other odds and sods.

I did know that, yes.  I also believe (stand to be corrected though)  that 4140 cromo has a dash more carbon in it, and that as the number behind the 'T' rises, so does the carbon content.

When I was making pegs, I messed around with some high carbon models for street riders as they didnt grind away so fast on concrete   ;)

so any good fact's on ali frames for example 7005-t6 plus a 16 stone fatty does it equal snapped frame  :2funny:

i rode my ripper for 4 1/2 years with no cracks or snaps

Ally frames suffer badly from work-hardening, and thats what snaps em.  So ally frame lifespans depend largely on useage   :)
