Ok, so finally I get time off to go racing at the excellent Barking and Dagenham track. I was dreading it a bit because it is a long track with some superb jumps.
All the usual old school villains turned up including (hope i dont forget anyone :-[)

And a special guest appearance from one of the original 1980s mongoose factory riders and skyway freestyle team Chris Young!! It was great to see him and his mum and dad over there. He was a quality racer before he went to freestyling.
In the first moto he raced a cruiser and came second. In the second moto I dropped out with cramp so Chris rode my Redline, I was hoping no one would notice, well that might have happened until chris cleared the first jump with about 5 foot of air!!! and went on to win the race.
I only managed to qualify for the B final again and managed to win that with 796 a close second. I never see the full results of the A final so please fill in the gaps if you remember!
I have to give a big shout out to the team at BADBMX who run a smooth operation at a great track, we was all made to feel very welcome. I even managed to win rider of the day (Paypal ok Paul?) seriously, thanks for that, it was very special winning a trophy for the first time in 26 years!!
Also a big shout to my mate Pete DJ who volunteered to marshall the third berm and John and Carol (nishikis mum and dad) who did the finish line judges job.. well done
Anyway, a great days racing at a great track with some special mates.

great to see so many o/s rides today.you are all invited down to hersden for the summer series.dates to be announced soon.plenty of little jumps on a four man playtrack.not quite so tireing for your old bones. :2funny:always good to see such wicked looking bikes getting ridden instead of polished.

that was a good laugh today,brought back some good memories lineing up on the gate.I didn't realise how unfit i am my legs were shot to bits pedalling out of the 2nd berm,my gates were good but my left knee tendons didn't want to know after the first moto......still its give me an incentive to get bike fit again and have another crack cheers lads that was brilliant...spillers.

What a great days racing - good turn out (first time my Hutch ProStar has seen race action for about twenty years), i'll try to get up to Braintree sometime, pictures are fab too.

Another top days racing with some real battles going on. Dagenham is a lovely track, if a little long for our old legs. The turn outs are getting bigger at each race meet.
I cant believe the height Chris got on Ratty's Redline over the second jump. He just took off, I thought he was going to land on Vinoah :LolLolLolLol: It is hard to belive that was his first race on a 20" for all those years.
Well done Ratty for winning the B final, that is two weeks on the trot! As your fitness is improving you are getting quicker and quicker, you just need to pack in the fags now :LolLolLolLol:
One last thing, don't forget to pedal to the finish line, I beat Sam and Steve in the last 5m :LolLolLolLol:

It's all been said before but it's worth saying again "top day's racing" and it's worrying that you regular Braintree guys are getting so quick!! Still I helped make the numbers up and someone has to come last and make you guys look good. Can't believe how good Vinoah's got since I first saw him riding - didn't he do well!! Must seriously think about getting a pukka OS bike so if anyone's got a nice long-framed model I could be tempted. I don't think I want to see the footage from the B Final because my boys say I looked like a hunchback on that miniscule HAWK Expert. Maybe some taller bars and longer cranks would help. Anyway, great day and so nice to see all you old f**ts enjoying yourselves. ;) Humps

Looked like a great days racing. I went to Rom at 3pm after a heavy nights clubbing so would never have made the racing.
Will deffo be at the next one and am ready to race again at Braintree for the 4th.
Looking forward to it.

Sam I nearly never made the start, i was still puttin me lid on when the count started, and it was one foot or no start :'(.
