Post by: munners on March 02, 2007, 08:11 AM
Im looking at buying a single pinch redline flight for my first newbuild. A little birdy tells me to be careful that i dont purchase a replica. Are these around and if so how would i tell?? ;)

do you mean the later single pinch redlines that came out in the late 80's early 90's.
i was worried about buying a set of them ones myself when i was after a set.

I have a set of the full wrap single pinch 401's with loose ball b/b and dimple spindle been re-chromed, couple of tiny marks that would probably polish out, the later ones dordy refers too didn't have full wrap pedal bosses, ratty posted a thread in tech that details all the various types of flight cranks :)

And a lot of us who cant justify the cost of original 401s/400s use redlines new flites, they look the part even if they are not quite right. You can get a set from the states for around £60/70 complete with bottom bracket. you can pay well over £200 for the real deal :daumenhoch:

Tony,

Where do you get them from then?  As far a cranks go, are they light ?  Was gonna get profiles for a new skool build but this may be another option ??

Cheers

Have a look at Danscomp, they don't stiff you on the postage like amcycle. Flights fit in a USPS standard rate envelope for $9.50. Never been charged customs on these, ordered something off ebay last thursday requested this envelope and arrived monday. £5 and 3 days from US ain't bad....
