we done bro it kinda shit to see it like that now we used to have some good days there over the weekend it was allways easy going there as it seamed to be downhill going but then when we had to come back it was the big hill that use to us  :tickedoff: cos we was tired as we had been on the track all day and made it worse if you had come off and had gravel rash like i did most weekends  :2funny: sad to see it like that mate we should look into getting it back how it use to be bro instead of it being a place for people to let there dogs shite all over it and the twitchers looking at birds  :LolLolLolLol:

Ste , Alan Woods (Alans BMX) looked into it but they won't let him have the old track back  :tickedoff: , They have told him he can have another piece of land further back to build another track but the council want about £35000 or summat like that for it , Mike Pardon (Pike Mardon on here) will have more info on that if he looks at this thread  :daumenhoch:

:Aresehole: wigan metro want money for land it makes me  >:( that they will not do anything for this generation of kids as if they had something to do at the weekends there wouldnt be as many ASBOS on the streets  :2funny: and they would be on bmx track instead out off the way  :LolLolLolLol:

i sub contract out to wigan council and iv worked many times on the recreation centre and asked the manager many time s what s happening about it and he says there s no chance no matter what any one says . he says its because of the parking , camping and litter . not that there would be any litter but he says in the 80 s they all used to go over to the pond and that and make a mess . he s just makin excusses but says forget about it , it will never happen . :'(

Its allways a downer to see a great track totally left to rot. Eastway is almost as bad and will be bulldozed this year :'(

That's sad, at least barnhurst still has a track down the middle of it much like eastway.

That's sad to see three sisters like that, I raced many times there.  In the summer, we raced Wednesday evenings too, anyone remember?.  I have some footage of the track on DVD taken in 82 but don't know how to get it on the web.  :-\

Lou , I was talking with Alan yesterday and there is a chance of resurecting Three Sisters race track  :daumenhoch:
They have been offered the chance of a plot of land near the entrance to the motor racing track but need funds and people to register for membership .
Anyone wanting to make a donation to the cause can do so by calling Alan

Alan would really appreciate any help us old schoolers can do  :)

3 Sisters was the only race track I ever visited back in the 80's. I managed to snap the rim of an Acorn mag on the small step up on the 3rd straight. It had a cut out with a plank across to stop it collapsing and I cased it. Funny thing was despite the rim breaking clean through the tube didn't pop and I managed to get home. The wheel got replaced under warranty. It's sad that it won't get revitalised like some of the old tracks. I smiled when I heard that Mike & Alan were trying to get the track re-built.  :-\

I remember the Wednesday evening racing. I used to be so excited at school all day waiting for home time so I could leg it home and get in the car to Wigan. I don't remember a time since that I have been looking forward to something as much. It must be kid thing getting that excited.

I used to have a car sticker on my bedroom window with 'I jumped the Wigan Whoops' on it. Anyone else have one of them.  :LolLolLolLol:

jesus guys and girls have faith,,,the new club has been reformed, the original track is now a designated wetlands area. (have you ever tried to fight the enviroment people? forget it) 3 sisters and wigan council have been really helpful in giving us the chioice of two possible alternative venues for a track rebuild. One of which is very near the original track the other just on the outskirts.
The council stated they cant give funding but a competant club(which i believe 3 sisters will be) can secure funds for rebuild. The locations are great for camping,. parking etc Bmx is(as you know) an enviromentally friendly sport so it ticks a lot of boxes.  Plus the big push as its now an olympic sport!!!

3 sisters is looking very bright for the future..Cheers Mike

awesome    :4_17_5:

thanks for showing that lou...

my memories of the track are being jealous watching all the robo team sat at the top of the start gate on a non race day in all the gear and there all chrome robinson bikes (chromed brakes rims and all)...  and one of them doing a 360 over the first whoop...   must of been about 1982!
