Title: skyways
Post by: rarman1 on March 06, 2007, 05:54 PM

seeing as they do sealed bearing tuffs now, do you think that more of us would be willing to use them on our new school bikes, if they could do a freecoaster version and cogs smaller than 16t,

i dont use mine as i cant stand a 44t chainwheel anymore, other than that i still think they look great and the sealed bearing works fine

im sure they do a coaster version
and flip flop hubs and even disc brakes for em
just a case of modding em

yeah iv'e seen a coaster version but it comes with a 16t driver, i might get a set and play about with them a bit,

my original question arises from the fact that no one seems to use them anymore, and i used the set i had BITD fairly hard with no trouble

a nice clip on  chrome hoop would sort the braking surface.

tuffs flex alot thats why they arent used anymore ... the extra stiffness from spoked wheels makes them faster and they are stronger ... i had a set of aero zytecs and i could feel them flex when i would do even small jumps

BITD my mate had a set of aeros he bent them cracked them snaped them they were sh*t, eventually he bought tuff 11s and never bust them,

although i do get what you mean about flex as compared to spokes,

do you think new school frames would be harder on skyways as they are stiffer than old school frames

its looks. the new sealed bearing graffs, are as smooth and as stiff as any skyway has been.

they will never be as good, performance wise as a decent set of spokes.

but they will always,   ALWAYS look 500 times better.

I can feel the difference between mine and a set of spokes now, and mine are graphites.

Wrong side picture here but I roll a 33/12 on the new coaster tuffs.  I think the 12 sprocket is by FIT.  I love tuffs.  No loose spokes or dinged rims.
