Title: Leary Turbo Crank Spindle?
Post by: FuNMoNsTeR on March 07, 2007, 01:31 PM
I had this spindle arrive this morning. It was advertised as a Turbo Lite Spindle but the seller says they removed it from a double tubed set of DB cranks, which leads me to believe it is for a Leary Turbo or Early Redline crank. Is this for open bearings? as i can see no mounts for sealed units...... Thanks Guys  :)

I think its the large size. It measures 12mm or 1/2 and inch square on the narrowest end of the taper.

Andy ask bmx-796 about the spindle he has on his turbo. From the looks of his pics he's running a loose ball bottom bracket with his turbo crank set  :daumenhoch:

from memory the early 400 flights (sugino) and DB three pieces all had the same square tapered spindle ;)

All the sugino spindles are pictured here http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=26518.0;topicseen

I always thought DB and Redlines were Sealed BB though !!! cant remember seeing anything other than !!

I had a set of profiles, redlines 400 and 401 and they were always sealed BB ?

I remember looking at N restalls DB and his Bros they were always sealed as well !!

But also yes it does look like a loose ball spindle though !

looks like a  400 spindle , but i have never seen a DB one lol

certainly loose ball , and most early redlines 400s and 401s were loose balll

sealed redlines were the hadley or the techmatic BBs which were top bannana i belive

The three spindles for the 400 series sealed (Sugino made) cranks are now on Ratty's thread.

I have not heard of 400's in anything other than a sealed version. Could be the DB TL one, I'll see if I can dig out any pics of those.
