I likt TTT's so even though its an unknown, presumed cheap frame, i figure i'd show it some love :)

I started with the forks, thought they needed some standers. Was going to buy some but wheres the fun in that!
So i got some inch square box steel.
Cut some wedges and shaped em to fit the forks.
I then pie cut them and pinched in the ends so they taper and in the slot i welded some cut up serated bits from an old pedal.
Wleded em to the forks, guesed on placement, and then welded coapping plates underneath.

Next, a coaster bracket, although it now looks like i wont be using it.
A nice man who's name ive forgoten (sorry) sent me a pic of a haro coaster mount. So i copied the dimentions, cut it out of a bit of steel, cut back the drop out and welded it in.

Then time for some chainstay standers. After two failed attempts at making them i bought a pair from jay (cheers fella) cut em up (sorry bout that!) and welded em on.

Now my welding is strong, but not that pretty, 50-50 my fault and shit welder, so a bit of grinding, a smidgen of filler and we were ready for prime.

Key up, rust treat and 1k etch prime.
And here it is.

Now ready for some high build primer, flat and paint.
Its going to be streetbeat green, with white seat/grips/wheels and tyres.

Thing is, its going to need decals, i dont know what it is, and dont really want it to be a replica, so, anyone got or know of some simple white freestyle decals i can use on the bottom tube?

I will update regularly, unless you all aint interested, in which case ill just hide in the corner.

Maybe, the seat post did not come with the frame, so my ally renthal will go on it.

looking at it from the angle in the second pic, do you think it could do with a brace between the chainstays?

Title: Re: unknown triple T build
Post by: graeme on October 18, 2005, 09:24 PM
I was going to cut out the bottom tube and weld in a bent round section one, like an old performer.
I was also going to get an old looptail and cut and shut the seat/chain stays so its looptail. But i just couldnt be bothered.

proper frankenbike then lol
Title: Re: unknown triple T build
Post by: graeme on October 18, 2005, 09:29 PM
yeah, i aint affraid of a bit of cut n shut!
I also wasnt going to paint it. I was going to strip the chrome and let it rust, then run green skyways and white tyres. Bit early hot rod style.
Sort of wish i had, but to get the chrome of i'd have to take it to the platers, they reverse plate it to get it off. But there minimum charge is £45 and i'd always have rust on my jeans!

What, to strip the chrome?
They must have a cheaper minimum charge.
Thing is, i used to work there as a bloody plater.
Also worked in brighton as a gold plater. Wish i still did.
I was going to either chrome or gold plate some tuffs for it, satin black with chrome tuffs, now that would be sweet!

I don`t know why you didn`t just build a new frame from scratch   ;D

Thanx stuntmaster. I dont think my girlfriend will get this one now, she'll get my ammaco.
I need a straight post for her bike anyhow, cos she's tiny.

Oh, and i did think about building a frame from scratch, maybe one day, but it is easier to cut up a few old bikes and make 1 new one :)

yeah, i did some powder coating too. It would al be so much easier if i still worked there.
Never mind. Hopefully the bike will be painted and mostly built by the weekend, exept wheels, pedals and brakes which will be arriving later.

well its now very green!
If its old school, and freestyle, it has to be green and white :)

These make me smile loads,

I know its covered in oily finger marks, and its only thrown together for now but i think its looking cool.

Its getting white brakes, and white pedals. Chrome crank and chainring.
Its also getting white skyways, but the question is, white or green tires?
Any opinions?

"A" star for effort. i ride white tyres and they are a nightmare if you are even hope to keep them half clean.

A star for effort seems to imply that i get a lower score for something else :)

lol...i dont think he meant it like that graeme...its looking good though matey....but if your going with white tuffs...use green haro freestyle tyres, most of the usual suspects have em in green, alans, biagio, skatepool, and rude wheels.....

so yes...very good buddy

Im iliterate? Learn to spell raleigh!
Not saying my spellings perfect but i aint critisizing other peoples language skills.
Its funny aint it, i really doubt you'd be so cocky to my face ;D
Internet abuse, the last refuge of the friendless who thinks he's a big man but cant cope in the real world.
Do you sit in the corner of the pub, on your own, looking at people with friends while crying into your half pint as you contemplate where your life went wrong?

Your people skills are just amazing, in a way i almost wish i was you  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

If you wish to be insulting, or just generaly take the piss out of me, then do it to my face.

Well if you had explained it was light hearted it wouldnt have pissed me of would it.
To just slag someones ride on their own thread is just plain out of order. To do it with a laugh puts the boot in. I think a wink would have explained things better.

Kiss my ass, and blowing you a kiss? I thought obviously light hearted.
Responce with more insults to my ride, pissed me off, i thought you were acting like a prick, so i said so.
First real insults?
This i believe, 'ah the language of a iliterate colour blind homosexual with bad taste'

Now that makes me plain mad >:( so i made sure you realised you had overstepped the mark
I have no idea where the hartlepool track is, couldnt even give you a rough guess, but if its ment to be, we'll meet someday.
If you like, you can then insult me to my face, when retribution can be more than words.
Dangerous game pissing people off who you dont know.
If you dont mind, i'd rather you didnt reply to anything i write or any thread i start.
Even if i want a free haro master, and you feel like giving one away. ;)

And lazychubs, sorry bout that, still getting used to peoples names! offer of a ride/drive of the rocco still stands :)

Post by: graeme on October 26, 2005, 05:33 PM
It would be funny ;D
It is quite similar to that hyper, its also very much like a single bottom tube meteorlite.
Befor i welded the bits on it was quite similat to a gen1 master, exept for the bottom tube.
Its believed to just be an old cheap bike.
The top tubes are welded on slightly different at the head tube, one is very slightly higher than the other.
All the welds are very neat though, i was surprised, probably the neatest welding ive seen on a bike frame. (not that im hugely experienced in these things)

Still waiting for the other lever, white calipers and hollow stem bolt to turn up.
Will prob change the crank, chainwheel and pedals at some point, but at least i can ride it! At least then i'll know if i like the frame.

thanks folks, it rides nice, nice and tight, feels good. Need to get the bars adjusted right, and i might loose the gt frame stander, not sure.
Its got haro freestyle tires, run at 50psi.
It will be better once the brakes are properly sorted.
I dont trust the forks though, i had to straighten em. I used a big hammer ;D so there probably a bit week!

Same dropouts and twin top tubes as mine. The down tube is the only difference, even the rear frame standers are the same. I've been trying to find out what the hell mine is for 6 months now. The forks on mine are stamped Akisu. I know they made forks for every tom, dick and namajinky under the red sun.

yeah, i know the forks are a bit crap, but i just made do with what i had.
coastvl, it does look like yours, but i added the chainstay standers myself.
It may get new forks, or i might not bother, it was just a bit of fun till i get my haro master :)
It wont get any serious use, just a run around. was a good learning curve though.
