Please wear long sleeves and bottoms, gloves and a full face helmet, some tracks will not allow an open face.

To qualify you must complete at least 5 rounds with the best 6 results count. This will enable you to miss two rounds without affecting your placing. At Milton Keynes your placing in the old school classic will count towards the series, ie: if you come 4th in the A final, but the highest placed series rider you will earn 1st place points etc.

£10 to enter the series, payable on your first race.
All monies will go towards trophies and number plates.
You will also have to abide by the individual tracks rules and pay them for track entrance fees etc. (usually around £5)

The old school races are certainly growing and with your support we can really have a cracking summer!!!

Riders ready, pedals ready........GO :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Looking Good Tony, Gutted I'm gonna miss the 1st 2 rounds though. :'(  But I'll make sure I'm there for the rest.

Have you thought about what Justin from Hersden said on Sun yet? Will the series fee pay for  Hersden Trophies, plus our end of series throphies / plates?

Just to let you know, my wife(CAZBO) and Humps have agreed to do the points tables :)

Guess you'll all have to be VERY nice to me and let me win on track.  Otherwise I'll fiddle the results and win on paper anyway!!  We need to agree the basis of points but personally I think we should take results only on the Finals only so you get:
A Final - 1st 50 points, 2nd 47 points, 44, 41, 38, 35, 32 and 30 for 8th.
B Final - !st 28 points, 2nd 26 points, 24, 22, 20, 18, 16 and 14 for 8th,
C Final - 1st 12 points, 2nd 11 points, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6 and 5 for 8th.
All other Final finishers would get 4 points.

If you try and include moto results it gets very complex but could be done but this way gives all to go for in the motos to get into the A final, so no slacking!!  Any views??  Humps
Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES
Post by: RATTY on March 14, 2007, 09:37 PM
Im all for that format Al, that way you do try your hardest to make the A final. How will we get the results to you? do we just ask the track officials? :daumenhoch:

Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES
Post by: Gary72 on March 14, 2007, 09:56 PM
results need to go to Cazbo first then Humps then back to Cazbo so can be posted, so if i,m not there Ratty and you are just take them with you and i will collect them or email them to us. Although if you take them i think they will need to be in a sealed envelope ;) ;)
I agree with Humps point format, nice and simple.

I'll be coming to as many as possible - but as my old school ride is a cruiser won't be able to enter all rounds.

Still - be fun to get along to Hersden/MK etc. for some old school riding. (As I don't get to these tracks often.)

Looks like a good summer ahead!

Good on you Ratty for organising all this. Sorry I can only (and even then only maybe) make it to 8th and 29th April. Holidays and the wife planning to drop a sprog are a bit of a barrier this summer.

You guys have my utmost respect for taking those bikes and actually racing them.  I take mine on the track but a lot of the guys would just cringe at the thought of taking their bikes out of their carpeted location.
Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES (websites added)
Post by: Pro-tec on April 30, 2007, 07:32 PM
Cheers for that dude. Some say it's a shame to mothball 'em and some say it's a shame to ride 'em and I can respect both perspectives. Me and the GHP go waaaaayy back. I ride mine because I've been it's proud owner since '84. However, its the only BMX I've got so I have no choice. I would love to have the discipline to build a museum piece and stick it on the wall never to be used. But if I'm honest no matter how many bikes I end up with, be it right or wrong, I know I will never resist the temptation to take 'em for a blast.
Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES (websites added)
Post by: RATTY on April 30, 2007, 07:42 PM
Its a hard call sometimes, but they are bikes at the end of the day, not to be hung on a wall and seen once a year, they need to be ridden and shown to everyone, especially the youngsters, they need to know how it started :daumenhoch:
Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES (websites added)
Post by: Pro-tec on May 02, 2007, 05:59 PM
Damn right! It's not as if we ruin them, we just use them. After all, a wrecked bike is no good for racing so we HAVE to look after 'em. They can handle it, it is what they were made for non?
Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES (websites added)
Post by: nishiki14 on May 03, 2007, 11:07 PM
BMX's were built to be ridden on the streets, raced on the tracks and hurtled in the air in the skate parks :daumenhoch:
Not wrapped up in bubble wrap with no chains on and hung on the bloody wall :tickedoff: :2gunsfiring_v1:
You people know who you are :knuppel2:
Title: Re: OLD SCHOOL SUMMER RACE SERIES (websites added)
Post by: Pro-tec on May 04, 2007, 04:33 PM
I reckon this debate deserves its own topic so the mothballers can find it and have their say. We could call it, 'Mud, good or bad? Discuss..' Like I said, I respect both perspectives but I would like to see what motivates people to build a dream OS bike only to photograph it then tuck it away never to be seen again. These guys are undoubtedly as passionate about BMX as OS racers are and it'd be nice to see what makes 'em tick.

Here are the results you've all been waiting for.  Te Harve still has his name at the top of the list but now he and Tony Riley have started to lose their worst results - the only two to have competed in all rounds so well done guys.  Will be interesting to see what the "drop two rounds" rework that QuadPaul does produces.  Enjoy.  Humps

As before the results are subject to Rattyfication.

Tbh Sharon, at the end of the race when the gang sat down to do the points we were amazed at how close it finished, There was never a clear favourite to emerge at any time, the lead kept changing hands. I think Paul and Sam will regret the races they missed as both could have relied on better races and had yesterdays points dropped. But that is racing and who would want it any other way :daumenhoch:
