Anyone know the best was to get paint off without destroying the chrome underneath ???
Lots of coats with primer under, tried nitromorse but it just soften's it.
-
use more nitromors and leave it on longer
manipulate it with the scratchy side of a sponge scourer, or some scotchbrite
-
Ok, thanks mate, I'll give that a try over the w.end 8)
-
on some frames i have gone through 2 tins of mors, and still not got it all off
and on the other hand i have had frames where you only have to open the lid near the frame and the paint falls off quicker than a cheap hooker's pants
-
yeah I here what your saying, I've used nitro on a haro and a GT already, paint fell ala cheap hooker
but they where original paint, some tit has gone made with a can of halfords on the bas*&rd, check out the pics on my previous post in the tech section.
The paint is more stubborn than the missus :idiot2:
-
the one i had trubs with had been primed with red oxide
that shit was harder than the metal
-
:knuppel2: Thats bad. This on has shit loads of grey primer!!
Ever thought of sand blasting it, or would that kill the chrome under?

Its not completely stripped, but I've broke the back of it. Need to get the forks chrome now, any body know anywhere local to me, I'm in Andover, Hants.
Whats the best way to bring chrome up to its former glory??
-
for chrome, start with autosol, then use brasso to make it super shiny
-
Great, I'll be getting those bits then. It really is very nice condition except a couple of spots.
Don't no which one of them to sell now, I'm not allowed to keep all three :(
-
hide one
-
lol
-
:2funny: Yeah thats funny, not a bad suggestion either, except...............me wife :knuppel2: kinda noticed that I'm spending 8 hours in the garage!! And our bank account is draining faster than Harry Leary on speed ::)
-
i aint joking!!!
just hide one. then pull it out later, say you "swapped it for some old wheels" :)
-
mmmmmm......sounds like you've tried that ol chestnut a few times ;D
If I thought I had half a chance of getting it passed I'd be giving it a shoot.
I've already got me plans sorted, one in chrome with orange bits, one in white and one in black!!
Message for Ruler! By the way thanks very much for all your help my project, really appreciated :daumenhoch:
