Title: POWDERING OVER CHROME!
Post by: munners on April 10, 2007, 06:25 PM
Ive got a set of forks that i want to powder but they are chrome. Rather than getting them stripped by the chromers or shot blasting them, is there anything i can do to the chrome for the powder to take to it?

Need help. Cheers all.  :daumenhoch:

dont know if you can powder over chrome but dont shot blast it because the tubes will become dimpled as the chrome is so tough

They will need a key but generally you can powder straight over chrome provided it's not peeling all over the place and heavily spotted  :daumenhoch:  SuperbikeDan should be able to answer this one for sure  ;)

powder over chrome is fine as long as theres no peeling or pitting

make sure the chrome is clean. that's it (so long as it aint flaky or damaged as dan said)

any half decent powder coater will degrease the item first. just scrape the big greasy bits off for him first
