Can anyone explain to me how to practice manually ? don't think I did it bitd and seeing that I'm a real wimp when it comes to jumping on modern tracks, would like to learn the technique behind manually so I can get a bit of practicing in before MK.
Any advice anyone?

its difficult to explain Lucy, its mostly in the legs, here is a short vid to watch that showa it being done (and Miles slacking and getting passed on the line :LolLolLolLol: )

:) DINGO :)

Wow. I enjoyed that vid. What class was that racing?
I sort of think manualing doubles as if the front of the bike is jumping them, but the back of the bike stays down. The front wheel takes off and lands just like it was jumping, but you keep in contact with the ground, just incase you dont have the speed to clear it outright. If you pump as you manual through you can speed up while you go through them, but thats beyond me.
Not sure if thats any help.

Thanks guys :daumenhoch:

doing it manually? i think that involves triple "a" batterries.
-
Lucy from what I have recently learnt it is more like doing a controlled wheely over the jumps if you can do a manual on the road then doing it over a jump becomes a little easier unless you try it over tripples and quads I tend to do it over doubles and thats it for me !!
the idea over doubles seems to be go as fast as you can but rather than launch push your back wheel on the ground and keep your upper body upright
I think :crazy2:

Lou it's manualling or doing a manual although i doubt manualling is in the Oxford dictionary 8)

There's a guy that rides at Hayes that manuals the back straight after the second turn (or end of the first if you class it as one turn!), doesn't pedal at all and blitzes through faster than anyone that's trying the pedal through them, pumping like on a skateboard or riding halfpipe I guess I guess is how it works but fooked if I can do it yet :crazy2:.
-
I can do it over the jumps i just haven't mastered doing it in a straight line yet :crazy2:

It was just a week night fun race, no actual class.
Dongo, that was the 3rd moto in 10 minutes, I was just cruising as I'd won over all already. :coolsmiley:
Right normal race manualing through doubles: Push your legs straight as you feel your bars lifting up, then when you feel the second part of the jump coming up under you just bend you legs to soak it up. The harder you snap your legs straight as you enter the manual the more pump you get and thats what produces the speed.
Milton Keynes first doubles are way faster to manual than jump, that goes for goes for most doubles that the take off lip isn't too steep and lippy. Also manualing small doubles like the ones out of the second berm at MK is a good idea, you get much more pump than if you jump them as you usually miss the landing.
I manual loads in racing, I don't actually like doing it as it look shite, but if it's faster I'll go with it.
-
manual? its just a stand up wheelie isnt it? :)

Thats the way! Its better to jump everything and gain style points, even if you slip a place or 3. :LolLolLolLol:

Check out this guy (about 2:20 in) I know its an MTB he's riding but he BMX's too and seriously knows how to manual :coolsmiley:

on the flat pull back on the bars as if you'd do a wheelie kick the legs out straight and get your weight over the rear hub ... just keep practising it takes quite long to get em good but everyone is still learning them even pros cant manual everything ... dont forget the "manual face"

weres the supr fast manual guru twobob rob
when ya needs him

Thanks guys for all your help. Took the bike out on Tuesday evening and attempting to find the balance, kept flipping it (I was peddling a bit too hard) but after seeing that video, realised I don't need to get the front wheel as high as I was trying to do. I was thinking if I can get a steady (normal) wheelie going, then move on to the standing up bit. I'll be out on it again this weekend.

Gotta love the manualling,Jared Graves was super smooth, just another thing I need to work on along with staying on my bike and pedaling faster ;D

:daumenhoch: no probs lucy ,so if you go to mk i want to see perfect manuals ,just like mine :2funny: :daumenhoch:
-
I went to MK today and managed to manual both sets of dubles on the first straight, going kinda fast. Quite pleased with that, although Id rather jump them, even if it is a bit slower. Maybe tomorrow.
-
If you perfect manualling, is there no end to the number of whoops you can do in one go, ie set of 4 for example, could they be manualled?
-
zed that manual bloke is doin a backwards manual in them picts lol
how freaking hard are those to do
i even tried them with the stuntman stupples freecoaster
