With all this revamp in midschool nostalgia I wondered who was going to do a heavy style midschool bike.
Arround 1998 bike weight got silly, and could easily be 20+kg.
I tried a friends warpig with a motorcycle chain, fat sprocket, 48 spoke wheels, 14mm axles, homemade pegs, no brakes, fat rims, fat spokes ... etc ...
And at that point honestly wondered how far this super strong fad was going to last.
As a distributor at the time we even got into logitical problems as we couldnt ship 1 or 2 khe bikes as they had gone over the 20kg era, and our shipping company wouldnt take more than 20kg packages at a time.
so has anyone got a "fatty" in progress? lol

Booooom!
Lift this one, if you can:

I know its still a mid 90s frame but it sure is heavy
-
i'M, planning a "heavy" build! just as a comparison with my stupidly light bike i want to build the heaviest bike possible,
my mates got a survivor warpig in his garage waiting for me to collect,
does anyone know what THE heaviest frame would have been?
kinik empire revision b, solid duke/killing machine, 2-hip pork, s&m sabbath, are the frames i've been thinking about so far,
what i really want is an s&m nextgen holmes, i remember mine actually weighed in at nearly 9lbs!
if anyone knows of a nextgen holmes anywhere i'd be very grateful!
any ideas for heavy parts too?

i have a fair few projects in waiting mid and late 90s and ye they are o so heavy in f&f alone.
-
some of the parts I can think of being Uber heavy.
1. Solid bikes 1" Cranks
2. KHE ramp Square Bar.
3. 96 spoke wheels with tripplewall rims and 13 gauge spokes laced to old G-sport hubs with primo wall tires and fat tubes.
4. Moped chain
5. Dragonfly 6mm thick steel powerdisk
-
fluffy toy brake conversion.

Dont forget, most of us used to ride with 2 tyres on each wheel!!! Sometimes we would cut the bead of the inside one ... but not always!

:wtf: would you want to do that for? Does it stop pinch flats or something? Did it work at all?

stopped pinch flats .... and made the bike run really slow and heavy and sluggish with a pressureless dead spot beneeth the outer tyre. We were all happy when Primo finally bought out a good tyre that could take high pressure and wasnt paper thin!

make a dave osato replica schwinn......... animal!!
or a basic, good lord..
-
Ive got a pair of BASIC bars. Similar shape to standard but they were all large dia, with the grip / lever part normal dia and inserted into the large dia. Whats better than a heavy tube? One heavy tube inside another!
-
I always fancied a set of Manly 95's, never got round to owning some. :(
-
Anyone ever seen a pair of 16 spoke Peregrines?

16 Spoke Peregrines WTF?!!
Anyhow, I've got a 98 Hoffman Evel Knievel - it's heavier than hell. Easily 40lbs I'd say, but I need to get it on Mark's scales to be sure. Ridiculous.
-
are those peregrine wheels for real.
i remember the moped chain thing, honda c90 i think.
got some bits knocking about which are very heavy, zima forks, kink sprocket , wtp 1st gen 3 peice cranks.
dont think i would build a real heavy bike [ dont think you can get away with it as it was all heavy then]
but gonna build a freak mid ride , using loads of mixed mid parts, should be funny
-
are those peregrine wheels for real.
Yeah, dans comp used to sell them and they had a weigt limit of like 70-90lbs i think.
These are more late midschool, than reg midschool.

yo dingo, can you manual that bike?
A freind had that frame years ago and it looked super flash, but the rear end was sooooooper long and it was impossible to do do anything on it appart from going in straight lines
-
Mark,
its perfect for its job, It mauals and jumps really nice at the track but I wouldnt wanna ride parks or street on it
I am used to cruisers so mayeb the long back end helps my transition from one to the other?
