Title: Help identifying items
Post by: reilley1 on October 23, 2005, 06:36 PM
Ok, ok, so i don't need help in ID...

People score in here pretty often but I recently came across some stuff that I thougt the story behind it was as cool as the parts scored.  Therefore, I will bore you to tears once again.

Scored these items with the large help of PK.  (Thanks Perry!!)

(Sorry about the lousy pic)

In this stash, it had these:

including this pretty little thing:

and these:

Also addicks spider, fluted post (7/8 and 13/16) bunch of pads, Grab-On grips, and other late 70s/early 80s  items as you can kinda see from the first picture

On my way to the shop to pick up the box of stuff, I stopped at Perry's house and he showed me this:

It was a 60th birthday present from Monty at The Finish Line Bike Shop. :)
It's his, but I will put it together and add it to my collection.

While picking up the box of stuff at  Pat's 605 shop, I was showing the frame off to the owner of the shop.  To my surprise, Rod Beckering was there and we talked about the old times and specifically about the Calexico SE race and our "encounter" with the OM and Beckering.  He told me that it was the only time he raced hacks.  We talked and at the end of our conversation, he gave me this:

2nd place trophy from the Patterson sponsored Nationals back in the day.  I was on my way to see my kids and Patrick promptly took control of the trophy and has it in his room.

I'm not with the kids too often therefore the bike riding thing has been put-aside, but yesterday.  Both Patrick and Reilley finally learned to ride their bikes (in a matter of minutes actually--I guess they were just waiting) and I finally went on my much anticipated bike ride with my kids.  Fittingly enough, I had taken my PK Ripper and we just rode for hours like back in the day...

A good weekend for sure and Thanks PK!!!
