So after round 3 at Hersden which has to be the event of the year so far, we are invading Royston in Hertfordshire on Sunday the 13th May for round 4. Its going to be the first time for many of us on what sounds like a great track. I dont know registeration times yet but Im sure Humps can confirm cos he is a top bloke!!
Usual rules apply please, as its a new track make sure you have full face protection please.
www.roystonrockets.co.uk
Lets make this the biggest turnout to date, shame this one clashes with Hersden as its about time the hersden boys came too!!
Set em up and good luck :4_17_5:

Details and the website to watch if the weather is looking dodgy is http://www.bmxeast.com/ . I'm going to contact the head honcho at Royston for race fee prices and other info. Great thing about Royston is they have their own chuck wagon, there's a local sell-it-all shop within 100yds, cash-point and decent toilets in the hall close by so even the missus will be comfortable with it. Top place to go so worth making the trip. I'm still in negotiations with my two but might have to play the "That's where we're going" card if there's any dissention. Humps

RE the shop Humps......
The last time I went there the shop was boarded up, that was the last regional there after xmas. It might just have been a temporary thing, but don't rely on it. :-\
Don't worry theres a massive Tesco just on the way into the estate. :daumenhoch:
-
the shop was boarded up
That's unfortunate Miles as it was nice to be able to wander down the slope and get an out-of-date pastie or similar. Tesco's it is then. Humps

OK guys here's the word from Royston Chairman Phil Townsend. Old Skool will count as an Expert class and attract the race fee of £8 (you know it's worth it). Anyone wishing to ride a second class can do so at the discounted price of £12 so no excuse for Digital Transfer and Zippy Dixon not to do two classes. We are requested that riders stay to complete their Finals so we do not see a repeat of MK where riders for A and B finals were lumped together - late finish shouldn't happen because at best I reckon there will be 120 riders, not the <300 at MK.
Royston BMX Club welcome the OS series to their "Old Skool" track and let's hope we put on a good show for them. Rules at Royston regarding racewear will be stricter than Hersden so remember gloves and long-sleeved top.
Registration closes at 11:00 so if you're running late call another Series rider to register you. Humps

Can i call long distance, and send a ringer, maybe Paul Scoles. :LolLolLolLol:

Weather forecast is crap for tomorrow - which'll make it even more authentic 80s!
Like Pontins, but in Hertfordshire.
-
Maps printed, sandwiches made, car loaded, bike falling apart, weather crap, ready to roll in the morning.
These OS rides really ain't meant for using :LolLolLolLol: As I pedal I can hear some ball bearings rolling about in the rear hub. But I found it to late so it's staying like it for tomorrow.
Can't wait, see ya all in the morning :daumenhoch:
-
And put your bars back properly Paul, they was banging my knees today. C U soon mate :daumenhoch:
-
Already moved then forward again mate :daumenhoch:

Well it doesn't get any worse than today. 136 riders (including 17 in the Old Skool class) was better than anyone could have expected on such a foul day. Was it fun?? B****y right it was!! Did we get soaked through to the skin?? B****y right we did!! Did we get covered in sh*t?? Certainly. Would we do it again?? B****y right we would. Well done to everyone who took part today. Results up later when Ratty's given them the once over. Pictures anyone?? Humps

What a great day. My bike is all nicely cleaned now too
I was well chuffed with myself today, 1st in moto 1, 3rd in moto 2 and 2nd in moto 3. Got a 3rd in the semi (sold Russ a lovely DVD) and got 7th in the A final (should do better :tickedoff:)
All in all a great fooking day. :daumenhoch:
Well done to all those who turned up and raced.
-
What a foooooooooking mad day. It was a great track, loads of rain, loads of mud, loads of smiles all round. I was gutted not to make the A final, Jim is getting too bloody quick.
Still I smoked the B final, so the points wouldnt have been too bad.
I was almost victim to one of Webb Dawgs T bones. I heard someone shouting "do him Nicky" as we hit the second berm. Next thing out the corner of my eye I saw her steaming towards me at full speed, luckily I was too quick to get in any trouble :2gunsfiring_v1: :2gunsfiring_v1:
Roll on the next round
-
It's on now boys, bear in mind i was riding a big ole 45 - 16 today whilst most others were on 41,42,43. Note to self get gearing chart out, then watch boys!!!! :daumenhoch:

If you want a decent new school frame I've got a great Supercross frame for sale in the For Sale section that's still available. Got some forks and other bits for it too if your interested. I wasn't at Royston today though. A bit too far away from Folkestone.
-
Great day fellas, you guys always seem to make em all sit up and take notice,Ratty, those holeshots mate.....quality!!!.........like miles says, before the end of the series I think a win maybe on the cards dude, the legs are looking stronger every race :daumenhoch:

And the one for sale at Roston today was mine ;)
Still got it,I know its more than Zippy's but it is a 2007 frame hardly used!!!!
Will be taking it to MK next weekend!!!!
-
The washing machine just struggled to deal with the amount of cak in my pants, if you know what I mean. Great day, actually the rain made it better even if I poufed out every time it got a bit slippy, which was every bleedin jump. Those cranks still don't spin either.
That's my last one of the series except maybe MK. Gots lots on in the next couple of months. Gutted. I will have to take a few bikes on holiday so I can get over it. The missues is due about a week before MK so let's hope she gets something done on time for once.
-
Well done to all those involved today...Gutted I didn't make it.Managed to get wet and mucky under my car though..Looks like I need a new starter motor on my old school car...(could do with some help with my gate starts too..)
Hopefully it'll be ready for the next round....Until then.... :daumenhoch:
-
What a cracking day's racing today, well apart from the rain. Highlights of the day had to be Daz's stack when his grips come off. Then Nikki landing on her ass in the puddle after the finish line of the same race. :2funny:
Again some hotly contested battles. I managed to cut Russ up in the 1st Moto, but he got his revenge in the 3rd moto, quality :Aresehole: :LolLolLolLol:
Matt, know what you mean about the kids mate, that was a bit off if you ask me. Don't worry that won't happen at daggers!! :daumenhoch:
-
Sorry for wussing out today. Sounds like you lot had a ball out there in the mud. I worked all day Saturday and felt compelled to get thoroughly plastered afterwards. Got up at 8 this morning with every intention of going racing but after 4 hours kip and having fallen over twice trying to get my race pants on I decided to give it a miss.........Never again..... Ow my head etc...
Well done all who made it. Muchos Kudos!
-
great day, rain mud and bmx! hosed off the ripper and stuck it in the shed. should clean it properly really but cant be arsed!!! ;)
-
Shane, sorry bout the mud bath you got today >:D

Yeh that was me and my big gob.
If you want to borrow a new school 20" or cruiser mine are both doing nothing at the moment. I can bring them down to the Bournemouth regional if you like so you can have a go.
-
Yeh that was me and my big gob.
I was thinking bout that move, you just encouraged me even more :2funny:
RE the bikes, that'd be great, Ratty's trying to get an Intense he loaned out back for us to change over bits, not sure if w'll do it in time tho so would be great to try yours. Thanks :4_17_5:
