Title: Attention all midlands riders
Post by: RATTY on May 05, 2007, 12:36 AM
Attention all riders in the midlands:

THE LEGENDARY BIRMINGHAM WHEELS IS BACK ON TRACK

The Birmingham Wheels Bike Club is now up and running. Our club nights are set as Wednesday evenings 4:00pm till 7:30pm.

WITH EVERYONES HELP AND INPUT THE BIRMINGHAM WHEELS BIKE CLUB HOPES TO RE-ESTABLISH BIRMINGHAM WHEELS PARK AS ONE OF THE PREMIER BIKE RACING AND RECREACTIONAL RIDING VENUES IN THE COUNTRY.
THE BIRMINGHAM WHEELS PARK HAS INVESTED IN THE FIRST STAGES OF CONSTRUCTION OF A HUGE 330 METRE BMX / 4x TRACK. WE HAVE PUT IN AN APPLICATION FOR £40 000 FROM BRITISH CTCLING TO FINISH THE TRACK.

ALSO NEW FOR 2007 IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SINGLETRACK MOUNTAINBIKE TRAIL AND A ‘NORTHSHORE’ + TRIALS OBSTACLE PLAY AREA. WE ARE ALSO LOOKING AT CREATING A MONSTER SET OF DIRT JUMPS AND SLOPESTYLE LINES OF VARYING SIZES FOR ALL ABILITIES.

On club nights we need help from riders to assist building the tracks and trails aiming towards a date later in the summer for an official opening of the Bike Park. We are open for riders all week long but to ride the freeride singletrack at its best then come up on Wednesday and ride at full speed as the roadway crossing barriers are locked in place.

Feel free to come and ride the tracks in place and see the potential of the venue and our plans we have for it and please come up and have your say and input on what gets built.

It's totally free to ride at the park at the moment and will always be free to become a member, after the official opening we will charge for use (£3.00kids £4.00adults day tickets) but if you come up and build with the club and get a builders ticket each time, when you have ten tickets then you recieve a years free membership. (good incentive for local kids too) more info on membership form.

we need more members on paper so please email me a completed copy and get your mates to do the same to help the funding process.

See you next Wednesday?

our website is in need of a cool look and the rest of the content (pics and vids etc) so watch this space or give me a call if you want more info:

Ditto, 5 mins up the road. Having a series of euro track Saturday flash backs since reading this. Train to Adderly park station, 250 laps of the track, session the pro section, 4 cans of tango passion fruit and a bag of chips from Stetchford on the ride back. Memories eh.

Yes mate, John and Dave Turnbull's old man owned it and Steve Fletcher run it for them. Lived in there for most of the mid-eighties. They sponsored a couple of my mates and our club shirts as well, Chelmsley Eagles. Sign is still up there on the old shop. Bought my first BMX from there.
